Hi Guys,

Thought I would start a new thread, for those who follow my posts you will know I have been doing a fair bit of work to my J, 360, 8.25", sway bars, A arms, solid sub frame mounts etc

Finally gave her a good blast tonight, she pulls hard, feels good when the vac secondary's open up. 60mph and she holds a dead straight line, feels real nice eh!

The jelly wobbly rear end movement is gone with the nolathane spring pads, its just a pleasure to drive, before you had to drive it and be careful, now you can swing it around and it just takes it, sits there and goes well!

Anyway here is a quick vid I took on my test drive, just remember the rear end has gone from 2.2 to 3.21 so there is change of 1.46, so 85mph/1.46 = actual 58mph

I still recon I can get some more advance out of it and sort my 2" to 2.5" exhaust and gain some more performance.

I am still working on things but to all the guys who have offered advice along the way many thanks!

Thanks
Bruce

I can tell you what speedometer gear to get for it, to correct the reading.

Hi Bud,

Have got one already, its in the USA at the moment will be shipped out soon, I am going to do the neutral/start switch, change the lockup spring and do the speedo gear all at the same time so I only loose the oil once.

I had to change 2 parts of the gear which proved to be a bit of a problem.

Thanks
Bruce

Its been off the road since I basically got it, it leaked like anything out the back frost plug, then I changed it to the 360, and 360 got all new frost plugs in it, then I had the weakest rear end on the planet so I couldn't really feed it any gas as it was likely to explode and poo its side gears out all over the road. But what you guys don't know is that I have had to buy all may parts, have them stored in SC, then have them put on a pallet and shipped to LA then to NZ all at big $$$

Video, yeah you will get more and more and more, so much more when I can get it out, I now think I have a timing problem with my timing light I am going to sort!

You have purchased the best parts, and spent a fortune to ship them to NZ, and you skimp on a timing light from Harbor Freight? Allow me to give you insight into Harbor Freight, since you are from outside the US. There stuff is CHEAP. Notice I did not say economically, or value priced, I said CHEAP, as in the worst Chinese junk you can buy.

Any tool purchased at Harbor Freight will last one project, or one year, whichever comes first.

Get a "real" quality timing light; you will be much happier with the results.:)

Having never been to New Zealand, did you run out of road because there was an ocean there or did you run out of road cause there just aren't many roads?

Not trying to be insulting, but your whole country is a great deal smaller than Texas. I am so used to endless roadways, its hard to imagine running out of road.

Do you have a lot of driving roads or just busloads of tourists clogging up the roads?

nah we have heaps of roads, more cars in NZ per capita than California, Auckland one of the most congestive traffic cities in the world, I just was on a short road that's all, NZ is about 1000miles long, some stats below for some interesting reading, to get KM to miles divide by 1.6

How many kilometres of state highway are there?
The state highway network has almost 11,000 kilometres of road, with 5981.3km in the North Island and 4924.4km in the South Island. It provides a vital link to almost 83,000km of local roads – 17,298.3km urban and 65,600.7km rural. The length of road per person in New Zealand is one of the highest in the world.

Road statistics Local roads State highways
Total length
83,000km 11,000km
Sealed 61% 100%
Urban : Rural 20% : 80% -
Responsibility Local authorities Transport Agency

I'm relieved.
After all that excellent work on your car, I'd hate to hear on the news that you ran out of road and had to be fished out of the ocean.
lol

Took a few videos today

Changes first to second at 3500rpm approx. hard to see in video with light shining on Rev counter. Pretty low one two what do I need to do to get the change point higher?

Does it give you a cold shiver up your spine when you see me driving on the left side of the road and cars coming at you on the other side :)

Excuse my fingers in the clips, hard to do by your self :)
