The fuse box is by your left knee, behind a door, on the knee bolster panel, above the emergency brake release handle.

This could be a deal fro the right handy person. It sounds like a lot of things that have been changed are just out of adjustment.

Ah jeeze.
You know you are soooo right.
I got so caught up in the pack rat wire mess in the engine compartment that I forgot that I look at that little door in the knee bolster every time I get in the car.

Brain spaz!

I’m not sure what’s causing the short to occur, but it is a very good deal on the car.

I currently have a spare dash wiring harness for ’86 M and I know where a good ’88 M dash harness is at.

The vibration would be a tire balance (or bent wheel), rear differential or driveshaft concern.
The most expensive of the bunch would be the differential, and I will have a good spare 7¼” that I could give you, Justwondering.
Might recommend you trailer the car home, though.

I don’t recall seeing one with brown interior before.

You could have his and hers 5ths (or would that be 2.5ths or 10ths?)
