Hiya Guys,

Sorry it's been a while. Summer is a busy time for me for getting things ready on the Ranchette for the coming winter LOL. Here's a bit of an update on everything since I took my Summer Hiatus.
Made the Trip back to my Parents in Portsmouth Ia, and got the Front Header picked up for the Diplomat. Also found a junkyard that one a stripped header panel for the Fifth Avenue for 50 bucks and reasonable price to ship. Those are still on the To Do list. The Dippy is still purring like a kitten, the 5th, on the To Do list for later.
The 79 Aspen has been sitting pretty much since the hiatus. No Time to fiddle with it right now and me being Glutton for Punishment, and after figuring out how much Hay we are going to need, where to buy it (drought conditions up here) at an affordable price and going into dept again for another 5 yrs for a new tractor (the Old tractor is still fine, just no guarantee on how long it will last) I scraped up enough money to get this, Buy Two more F bodies. I picked one of them up Saturday, it's was quite a haul from our place, 6 hours Drive time to get there, and then 10 hours drive time back because of the Mountain Range we had to cross coming back at 25 MPH up hill with the Mini Van Towing and the Tow Dolly.

I got a hold of a 77 Volare 318 T Tops Car with a PRISTINE Undercarriage. Body Wise it's not to bad. The Vinyl Top (I assume the T-Tops had Vinyl Tops) has been removed, lots of Bondo on that Area. NO GRILLE of Course. Someone put 15 Inch Ford Rims or something on it. Don't care for the Rim style but what the heck right. I got this one thinking of using it for parts for the R/T, Butttttttttt, it's in Damn good Shape. Passenger side T-Top Glass is Cracked though, Will probably pay hell to find another one. Weather Stripping is there, but Barely. And NO Fender tag.
Pic of the 77 Is here.

Also from the same guy, I am picking up a 79 Volare Duster. Looked at it while at his place when we picked up the 77 and HOLY HELL, The body on this Volare Duster is PRISTINE (haven't looked at the underside yet) other than it is missing the Front Drivers Side Fender, but he has a replacement fender for it. Guy came out looking for the "replacement" fender, he couldn't find it to sell him at the time, soooo he pulled the fender off the Volare Duster Instead. Then Found the Other Panel LOL. Forgot to Look at for the Fender tag on the 79, It's a slant Sixer.

Was Looking at both of them for Parts Cars for the R/T, Buttttttt They are just in too good of Shape to use for parts (Volare/Duster is up in the air right now for the frame till I get back there).

He has Title for the 77, but no title for the 79 (that could be fun if I decide to keep her and fix back up)

David -
So glad you are back. I'd give you my extra hay but the shipping would kill you. I've decided not to replenish the livestock numbers until the house is finished.

I thought about you this weekend when I was on my 600 mile trip. Drove by several ranches in the back hills in central texas and saw many a car carcass.

My brother and I managed to score two Willys Jeep Trucks and 1 Willys Wagon.. all from the early 50's. Trucks are in much better shape than the wagon. But the interior on everything is toast. Last ran about 9 years ago so this will be a bigger hill to climb than my 5th avenue.

We also got all the farm equipment this guy had from his estate. In the process of relocating it from there up to here in North Texas.

I still have 1 visor to finish and power antenna rehab to finish on the 5th before I start the weatherstripping and window projects.

And yes, the garden is producing like crazy since we got rain, so every day is a prepping or canning day. Trying to race to the finish line.

Glad you took a minute to get us updated and congrats on the header & header panel, and two new rides.

How were Mom and Dad?

Mom and Dad were Ok. Got into a big ass blowout with My brother who has been leaching off them for the past couple years because he's you know, 42 yrs old and still lives with mom and dad and doesn't lift a finger to help with anything or pay anything in rent or for them to watch his kids while he or his girlfriend are at work. His 4th Marriage now, Another 21 yr old girl with Daddy issues and another kid for him to try and support on top of the 2 he has from a previous marriage whose mom wants nothing to do with the kids. Brother is about 10 sammiches short of a picnic I think. Kid is going Nowhere.

Gonna pick up the 79 Volare/Duster on the 10th of September if all goes well. Once I get the "Get Ready for Winter" crap done up here, then I can start fiddling around with things again. Still have to run a 280 Water line over to the Pig Pens, Build another Shelter for the Bull Calves and Bull Corral to keep them away from the Girly Cows, Finish the New Feed Shed that will hold more than 40 bags of Pig Food and other stuff, and get the Windows on the house Insulated and sealed a bit better, then I am done for this Summer/Fall.

I've got another week and then have to two months to get another 1/4 of the downstairs outer wall complete and button up the other half for winter.

Have to get the greenhouse plastic up in October.

Last year's left over hay bales need to be moved to the garden and plowed in.

The never ending cedar growth needs more thinning.. but its all doable.

Sure thing...
Man had 3 girls and none were interested in ranching. He died and they sold his 360 acre ranch in central texas. Older brother offered to buy all the metal off the place.

New owner cherry picked 4 or 5 things, but rest went to my brother.

1948? Willys Jeep Truck (overpainted red which is peeling)- flat head engine was removed and replaced with engine from wagon?
1949? Willys Jeep Truck original green, peeling was running about 5 yrs ago
1950? Willys Wagon - no engine, but there is a flat head sitting in the barn
1978? Massey Ferguson tractor, good shape looks like about 35 hp
1950? Case tractor with front loader, good shape looks like about 25 hp
???? Small ford tractor , probably a 1960s or so

cultivator, disc-er, new holland square hay bailer, 2 - 5 foot brush hogs, and several dead implements I have no idea what they were. Some convertible thats rolled on its head and the rear axle is missing-- it will probably stay there, pto t-post driver, 3 trailers in various states of decay, 1 stock trailer with crap tires but otherwise looks good.

Just an entire mishmash of items.

All kinds of cool stuff. It's rare to find an older tractor (the case) with a loader on it. Some of those early loaders were pretty sketchy. The John Deere dealership that I worked at over the summer had a collection of older Deere's. A 4020 with loader, some model M's, A's, a 720, etc. pretty neat stuff.

My dad's john deere was only made for 3 years and is a beeeaatch to get some parts.

I'll post pictures once everything is off the property.
Just makes for a long week to get my stuff done and add in a day with a 300 mile trip to central texas, 5 hours of shuffling heavy equipment in the heat, and a 300 mile trip home.

But it will be worth it. More elbow grease needed. ha ha

Sounds like the two JD's I have, 61-63 were the only year they made the 3010's and I have two of them, one with a blown motor on it and a backhoe. Yellow one and a green one LOL.

Seems Like once Summer Starts when you are ranching or farming, it's all spent getting ready for the next winter. UGH.

My dad bought a brand new International tractor in ’58 (I think) when he was 14 years old. He said he did various work for the neighbors and had it paid for the first summer he had it.
He still has and uses it today, but it’s been rebuilt a few times and even caught fire twice (not the tractors fault).
Back in the 70’s he tossed the (bad) generator and installed a Chrysler alternator and voltage regulator on it.
After the second fire, he put in a ‘60’s Chrysler ignition switch and Dodge van high back seat in it.

I'd love to see that warrior.

You guys need to start a tractor thread!

I want one!!!!

Haha yeah they're pretty sweet. That one wasn't mine, belonged to the dealer. Just moving it on the lot. Next tractor I'm going to get will certainly have a cab. Once you experience the air, there's no going back. You also don't freeze off your jiblits in the winter. Current tractor I own is open, so it gets chilly....

Well, still have limited time on here for now (winter is more internet time for me) as I am still backhoe'ing in the 300 foot water line to the Pig Pens, Finishing up the Feed Shed, Building the Bull Corral, all, hopefully before winter sets in. I think winter might be coming in early this year, 50 degrees out right now, it's usually not that cold up here until we hit October or so. Brrrrrrrrrrr.
