I e-mailed Mopar Action and asked if they were going to ever fire back up. I always like it better than Mopar Muscle, especially the tech articles. Here is their reply.

We apologize for the delay, we are still in deliberation as to the continuation of subscriptions for Mopar. You can still find it on store shelves but we are currently in deliberation as to the yearly accounts continuation. We apologize for these inconveniences, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for contacting Athlon Media Group.

I figure there might be some Mopar Action fans here.

The publishing company that used to put it out decided to kill the magazine, along with a bunch of others they published as well. I'd heard a new publisher was considering bringing it back. Got to be honest, I've never seen a Mopar Action magazine. The only mag (of any subject) I get anymore is Mopar Collectors Guide. They don't need to worry about being killed, they are their own publishers.

Is Mopar Muscle still being published or is it also gone?

I’ve been wondering where Mopar Action has been at, as well. I had thought Walmart decided to quit carrying it.

The tech sections are FAR FAR superior over anyone else out there. The car picture articles are OK, but the tech section in a league by itself. Been meaning to get a subscription to them, for a long time,

I’ve seen new editions of Chrysler Connections (or something to that effect), but not any new or good articles worth buying the magazine.

Mopar Muscle is now owned by Peterson (Hot Rod) and you can tell by the contents. I've been getting Chrysler Power and it's OK but nothing to write home about unless you own a Poly. I also get Mopar Collectors guide that went from being a parts/cars for sale mag to a article mag with parts/cars for sale on the side. I get them and wait until I'm overseas to read them. I then pack them home and give them to my buddy that has the Mopar salvage yard. So my magazines serve me twice!

I was at Wal-Mart last night and actually found a new edition of Mopar Action for sale (so I bought it).

I wonder if Barnes and Noble has it? There's one just up Rib Mt. Drive a bit. There's a Walmart so called "Super Center" along there also but since I absolutely REFUSE to go to Walmart..............................
Suppose I should stop in (to B&N) and find out, yes?

Sorry, but I'm not surprised if they go under...their magazine is like a broken record (A,B,E...A,B,E...A,B,E). I cancelled my subscription years ago. I wrote to them about other Mopars (yes before email!) and they fluffed me off. Later, only as the E and B cars started to get priced beyond the means of the ordinary hobbyist, did they devote some time and do some good tech articles on F,M,J and C cars.

They had a chance to be a Mopar magazine and chose to be a muscle car magazine instead.

I won't shed a tear.

Just read in MCG that the new publishing company, who had hired the old staff of Mopar Action to do the new issues, just laid them all off and so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Mopar Action is once again in limbo from the sound of things.
I can't comment on the content of the magazine. To be honest, I have never read it. Sounds though, they made the fatal mistake of limiting the cars they featured too much (A, B, E from '64-72 probably), similar to the way Hot Rod is mostly about the all mighty small block Chevy and Camaro's. I mean, Mopar built cars before 1964 and after 1972 but you'd never know it looking at most magazines (MCG seems to be the exception). The reason I like MCG, to them a Mopar is a Mopar no matter what the year or what the body. One reason they've been in business for almost 30 years and others aren't anymore. (JMO)

I loved a lot of the techincal information in Mopar Action. Rick Ehrenberg was a real source of knowledge, and in terms of technical information, they were heads and shoulders above Mopar Muscle. But, Mopar Muscle seems to cover more varieties of Mopars than Mopar Action did (they just had an article about a Magnum XE for example). They are probably still around because of that. I like MCG, too, but their content doesn't have a lot of tech articles, and seem preoccupied with car auctions and collector car values.

The thing I liked about Mopar Action was the tech articles. Ehrenberg is very good and knows his stuff.....but as far as the cars go I'm with @Mr C .......it's the A, B and E broken record every issue. The only time they deviated was the one page featuring readers rides. My Caravelle was actually in there.

It has been my opinion the tech articles and the readers’ questions (tech questions/answers and resto questions/answers) is what I buy the magazine for.

I agree the cars are a bit biased – but I have seen a few of our member’s cars in it – so it can’t be too bad off.

So yea – I buy it for articles.
My wife still give me that hands on shoulders look though (I’ve yet to interpret what exactly that means . . .)
