I am curious to know what those '49 caps would look like on an M body, it is hard to picture without seeing them on the car. The next question is black or whitewall?

I've got the whitewalls out right now. Maybe I'll go dig through the snow and pop one on.

Looks good, kind of like a moon style hubcap. Definitely would change the look of the car. If it was me, I would roll around on them for awhile to see if
I really liked them. I'll still always be a fan of the spoked cap, nothing says "luxury" like fake spoke wheels.

Just an opinion, but the most "luxury" looking wheels for our cars are the snowflakes. I think the "sportiest" looking wheels are the 5 on 5s. I would never go hubcap if I had alloy wheels or Ralleye wheels available.

I agree with you on the snowflake wheels. They work very well for sport and/or luxury wheels on the J & M bodies. My Cordoba ls came with 5 on 5 spoke alloys. They really dont "get it" for me, but they're ok. My fav's by far are the 10 spoke forged or cast and the snowflakes. The rallye wheels with trim rings are sharp too. I love the dog dishes on satin black steelies with or without trim rings. Ala cop car. And they look good on anything.

I've got the snowflakes on my 87. I had the wire wheel caps and I'm into the others less than 100.00. This car will be my airport car so I don't want to go overboard on it.

I guess this is where personal taste kicks in. I think the 10 spokes are the most boring of wheels. To me, I don't know why they put th em on the CMX cars, they aren't sporty, or that good looking. The 5 on 5s, if in really good shape, or polished out (preferably with the painted areas repainted either matte or semi-gloss black) are just the sportiest of all wheels for all of our cars. I think Jasper Jacko has some nice pictures of them polished out, and I did up a posting on how I polished mine out a while back. Also posed on how I polished out the snowflakes.

I have never been a fan of the dog dishes, on any type or year of car. Look too "I can't affort decent wheels" to me.

Those Chrysler chrome caps might look better on a bigger (ie: ‘40’s or ‘50’s) body. I’m not saying that our cars are not “big” but there is just no comparison to bodies in that 40 year difference.

Your cap looks good – but for our cars, just not as good as wires, snowflakes, etc. (IMO).

Side note: I think it is odd that Chrysler was using 15 tires in the ‘40’s. In the ‘60’s just about everything was running on 14’s (or 13’s). In ‘80’s everything was back to using ‘15’s. ‘90’s most Chrysler's were running ‘16’s and today ‘18’s are not uncommon.
