What cleaning products can I use on the tin? It's really old looking and I don't like it. Do I have to polish it?

One product that I found works well to polish metal is Glitz metal polish. I used it to do a final polish on some older factory aluminum wheels. If it is really bad, you can use their chemical cleaner first. I used their Buff ball in a drill to do the polishing, but pretty much anything should work.

Here is some pics of the cage I cut out. It's amazing how people would do this and actually race it in the 10's. They also flattened the bars to weld together instead of getting a tuning notcher. I will remove all the tin a check all the welds on the square tube frame. My life is worth the extra work.

The pics tell the story.

it would never pass tech. i think he raced on an outlaw track were you don't need to follow any NHRA/IHRA rules. there is a track 3 hours from my place that is an outlaw track. no real rules are enforced. i seen guys running 9's there with no roll bar.

when i went there with my black car, they didn't even look at it. they asked if i ran at an NHRA track and i said yes so poof i was teched in.

Pressured washed everything so I can start to paint it. Now it's safe to race. I still can't believe the old roll cage was so bad. The work out there is horrible. It's a night and day difference in quality of workmanship.

Chassis got tagged to 8.50 spec.

i got all the bar painted tonight. i can start putting the tin back in and then the wiring. after the wiring is completed, it's a rolling chassis. just have a few more engine parts to buy and it's assembly time.

You can lay some really nice looking welds with JB if you put a minute or two in them, or not! This sounds like many of the heaps they list and pass off as Solid, PRO Build, Teched, Clean etc on ebay. Thankfully your putting the time and effort into rebuilding yours right. Mama Mopar approves.

i picked up a set of w2's this summer. i sent them to Ontario to get ported buy Jesse Robinson (know as RAMM) on lots of mopar sites. he sure does nice work.
