Replace Wires from the firewall to engine bay

My ongoing battle with packrats continues this spring with my fifth avenue.

I think I'm losing the battle.
This month I've trapped 3 packrats on glue traps set inside the engine bay.
They seem to prefer the driver side flat area near the firewall and right next to all the electrical wires.

I had already butt spliced several wires 2 years ago to get things working again.
Now, they've been attacking the red wire coming out of that area.
I checked this just a few minutes ago and there is a new packrat on the glue trap with red plastic around him and a new bare copper area on that wire.

Could you tell me how difficult it is to re-run new wires?
I'll have to replace the inline fuse/link thingy as well or come up with a solution for that.

While we are at it, is there a barrier I can put around the wire bundle after I replace it?
Even if it is a sacrificial barrier, I'd rather replace some rubber/plastic/metal housing rather than these wires.

Here is 3 different types of cable or harness wrap that will work for you.

When I worked at the Audi dealership, they had a rodent resistant tape wrap for wire harnesses. Not sure where you could buy it, didn't have any luck with a quick search. It's applied like regular electrical tape but repels rodents, so they claim. Can't say for sure how well it works but, I don't recall any repeat repairs due to rodents.

I do know they will chew right through plastic convolute tubing and similar products to get at the wires.

Might want to also consider one of the rodent repelling sprays available for automotive use. Again, no experience with whether it works or not.

Get a cat,my 2 I have are the neighborhood pest control .My neighbors are lucky I don't charge them for the service.

I do occasionally have 'gifts' at the front door.
So far, glue traps have been working pretty good when I remember to put them in there.

I checked the Chrysler again today and another packrat was glued to the glue trap only this one decided to chew on the blue wire.
