    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

Well,......I ended up jacking the diff high enough to see that the tension bars were not touching the shackles on both sides. So,..removed front retainer bolts bolts AND the entire two bolt rear tensioner brackets from the upper rails. The whole diff assembly dropped down after that. Not sure...

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

These are a bracket of sorts that has two bolts bolting them to the the bottom of the frame rails, both sides. The top of the rear shackle bolts go through them. There is a tension bar that when the car is on the ground, a tension bar goes across the two rear top shackle sides and provides...

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

So I am disconnecting everything attached to my LeBaron 7.25 diff, getting ready for my 8.25 replacement. The rear leak springs have something I've never seen before described as a "spring tensioner". It looks like a torsion bar of sorts. The factory service man states must have a special tool...

Rear brass brake fitting for 8.25

Thanks for your input. I should have checked rockauto as well as I've ordered many items from them.

Rear brass brake fitting for 8.25

Update on the brake hose. After cruising through ebay, I found the exact hose made by Dorman. $28.00,... and on the way !!

Rear brass brake fitting for 8.25

Things are almost through with my 7.25 swap to 8.25. I am detailing the rear brake lines but have hit a snag. The brass brake line block that's bolted to to top of the axle housing has two threaded holes for the left/right brake lines. There is an additional fitting/line that's coming from the...

    Rear suspension G22:

Thanks for that info !!! Just got through stripping and painting shock plates. Will need a drive shaft to complete (hopefully) bolt in. Only other item I'm probably going to need will be new leaf spring bushings. Not sure who makes the replacement oval bushings. Don't really want poly's, prefer...

    Rear suspension G22:

I'm cleaning up mine now for my replacement 7.25 to 8.25. They're in rough shape but complete including the rubber isolators. A lot of scale and on the tops have some rust decay. They are the 3845128-9. They do have provisions for sway bar but car originally did not come with one. A lot of work...

8.25 gear set up so far not being friendly

Thanks for comments. Things are moving along nicely. Gone through final pinion setup/back-lash. Removed set up bearings and replaced with the install kit pressed on's. Slightly changed ring gear pattern but not enough to need pinion shim change. After much research I decided to not use crush...

8.25 gear set up so far not being friendly

Install gear pattern problem solved !! The whole issue was MY fault. As careful as I am, I missed one basic item. I couldn't believe it as once this was corrected my pattern came right in. As follows,....when I tore the diff apart, cleaned all compiled the parts I was going to reuse, I assembled...

8.25 gear set up so far not being friendly

I have not seen any 2.94's. Most of the gear manufact's start in the 3.0 something. I had thought about the 2.94's as well but just couldn't find any !! Prices seem to float all over as well. The gears I bought were from what I'd call an off brand but I never anticipated that I'd get a set...

8.25 gear set up so far not being friendly

New Yukon carrier. Correct for ratio as well. I had bought the set up bearings so that has helped with all the set ups and tear downs. I have gone from zero shims up to 60 thou and can't move the pinion contact point off the top of the ring gear heel drive side towards the middle on the ring...

8.25 gear set up so far not being friendly

Well,.....my project has appeared to hit a major snag. I'm currently trying to install 2.76 gears and new everything else into a 8.25 diff. So far I have installed and removed my gears 36 times as I cannot get a proper ring gear pattern. The 2.76 gears are difficult to get as there's not a lot...

    7.25 to 8.25

Yes,.......about the same effort as any diff that never came in a particular model. It's never going to be a bolt in as factory.

    7.25 to 8.25

I'm not going through all that cost and setup for this project. I wanted what amounted to as a factory bolt in unit. A Mopar guy in my neighborhood purchased a real nice 86 New Yorker and is intent on putting an 8 3/4 under it. It's not going to be any bolt in but he intends on making what ever...

    FOR SALE brake kits

OK Richard,.....let me know where to send check. Just to clarify,......these are for 8.25 diff with 10" brakes. I would assume as well that these plate were originally off an FMJ body vehicle. If all is correct,.....shoot me asap where to send check and will get out Monday morning. There will be...

    7.25 to 8.25

Well,....the bottom line here is that installing an 8 3/4 in any FMJ body is a lot more work all the way around.
  18. P

    7.25 to 8.25

Sorry,..I'm not going to agree with it being the same amount of work. FMJ's came with 8 1/4 and if one has the proper parts, it a bolt in. 8 3/4 is a custom fit and there will be ALL the required work a custom install requires. Plus,...unless you've dropped a high HP engine into one of those...

    7.25 to 8.25

Putting an 8-3/4 under an M body car is more of a major under taking. NOTHING interchanges. I'm doing this job because after all these years, I am sick and tired of putting this car into gear and hearing that enormous destructive clunk in the running gear. Besides it's a 318 cruiser and I have...

    7.25 to 8.25

I don't know how many of you out there have done a diff swap like I'm doing. Since this had the 2.45's I had no choice but to buy all new internals since I'm upping the ratio. I noticed what I'd call an unusual item related to the 2.45 pinion. First time I've seen the following......After...

    7.25 to 8.25

So far I'm finding in nothing common between 7.25 and 8.25. Axles, backing plates, bearings, seals, attaching points. You name it.

    7.25 to 8.25

Got the 8.25 torn all apart. Looks to be never have been apart since the 70's when new. Didn't come apart in what I'd call a friendly manor. 2.45 pinion is huge. Noticed one thing I'd never seen before regarding the pinion's pressed on bearing. I've never seen a pinion bearing(rear larger) that...

    7.25 to 8.25

Thanks for the reply's. Car has 2.76 ratio and found a new 8.25 set, probably the only new set left as I've been told gear manufactures don't make any more ratios in the 2's. Have new 27 spline carrier coming as well. Spent a great deal of time going over all the info on this site regarding diff...

    7.25 to 8.25

77 LeBaron 2 door coupe,....Going to swapping out rear, 7.25 to 8.25. Will be complete rebuild, new gears and carrier. Question: Seen two different style replacement carriers. One from Spicer and the other a Yukon unit. Any thing to a aware of in differences between the two?? Second question...

    Windshield wipers not working

77 LeBaron. I just completely rebuilt my entire wiper arm and drive link system. Got drive link bushing from AMS. Very good repo!! Pressing the arm onto the bushing is however,.. very difficult. Anyone needing any pointers,.. let me know. It's all back in place and working like new.
