If it doesn't sell at $1500, the engine/trans/diff are coming out and it's getting hauled away

FOR SALE 1980 Diplomat price lowered $1800

I can work on getting some more pictures of the underside, as well as the body panels. Indeed, a shame to part it out. Let me know if you want some more specific photos or information, and I'll be happy to get I for you.

FOR SALE 1980 Diplomat price lowered $1800

Seems as though I'll have to let it go for parts, or hopefully someone comes along with enough time and money to fix it properly

FOR SALE 1980 Diplomat price lowered $1800

Here is a photo of the rust damage on the frame. I don't currently have any photos of the doors, but as I recall they are in decent shape. I'll work on getting pictures this evening.

FOR SALE 1980 Diplomat price lowered $1800

Up for sale once again is my 1980 Diplomat. I've had it listed for sale/trade on here I the past, but I am finally allowing myself to pass it on to someone who will actually finish it. It started as a slant six car, but now bears a 360 truck engine from a retired fire truck. The transmission...

SOLD 1980 Dodge Diplomat coupe project

I did manage to find some other photos I had, but the ones showing the frame rail have been lost. I can, when I get a chance, get under amd snap a few pictures. Two photos show the slant six K member alterations for the engine swap mounts.

SOLD 1980 Dodge Diplomat coupe project

I had no direction as to determining the value of this car. I figured I would factor in the upgrades, work done to it, and the fact that it is a semi-solid coupe. I really just want it to go to someone who WILL finish it, unlike myself who has, unfortunately let it sit for too long.

    Frame rail repair

That should help. Unfortunately I did place the engine and trans in the car, before this repair. Hindsight tells me I should have done this first, but I was way too excited to let the engine sit there. Luckily I decided to leave the driver's side header off for now. I will probably take the...

    Frame rail repair

Thanks, Aspen. I just wasn't sure, with it being a unibody, if it would collapse, snap, etc. As I said, and as you stated, it really is just that left front rail. The mind boggles at how the rest of the car can remain so solid after seeing this one area.

    Frame rail repair

The body actually isnt too bad at all. Not perfect, but as far as I can see, it's really just this one section on the frame.

    Frame rail repair

Understood. I figured, if I have to ask, the answer is no.

    Frame rail repair

My left front frame rail is rusted out, right behind the wheel, where the frame becomes straight. I have a solid parts car to rob a clean rail from. I have never done this before. Is it safe to just support the car and cut out the piece I need? Thanks

    Transmission

Driver's side pan rail should have a number beginning with PK, but as mentioned above, most likely an A998 lockup. Despite what you may have heard, they are plenty strong for what you have planned. The lockup will keep tranny temps cool, and the extra forward clutch and steel planetary gears are...

    Transmission mount advice.

I bought the Anchor brand mount and can't say I'm happy with it. Haven't driven the car yet, but I did inspect the mount prior to installing it, and I'm glad I did because the sleeve that goes through the rubber insert was too small on the ID and needed drilled (9/16) for my bolt to fit. I...

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

Yeah, the whole "get what you pay for" thing applies I suppose. Perhaps I can shield the wires somehow, that already crossed my mind. Thank you

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

Someone else said that, too. At the time I created this account, I had only ever had slants. Well, and a 413. But never a small block

M bodys etc are so hard to change oil filter

Well, three drain plugs actually. The filter housing has one too. The pan was aluminum, with what appeared to be stainless (but may not have been) female torx plugs.

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

Here's mine, along with three of the four exterior appearance options I'm faced with. The only other option I have at the moment would be the cop car steelies with all the stainless trim. Looks better in person, especially after washing.

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

I really like the paint on that engine. Very clean. Doesn't appear to be a factory color, looks a bit brighter than the blue I'm used to seeing I guess.

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

    I'll soon find out. Thanks

M bodys etc are so hard to change oil filter

The filter on the 05 Touareg 4.2 isn't bad, but it has an upper and lower drain plug (two piece pan I think?). And of course, the lower one is the one seized in there, so I can't do a complete oil change.

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

Just a side note, if anyone cares to check out the Magnaflow 10416 mufflers, my opinion of them is that they sound very good with no crackle, and that's what I plan on running when this is all together
  25. SlantSixSullivan

Hooker A,B,E, and F body headers

No starter in the way, as this is a small block swap in place of the old slant that was in it. That simplifies that part. Steering linkage shouldn't be too bad, either. Still gotta level the engine, bolt up the TC and center the transmission before I can proceed. Hey, maybe the car will sound as...
