I have had this book since shortly after it came out in the mid ninties. I still keep it handy for reference, especially the chapter by Galen Govier.

I go in for tire repair and the man asks about my windshield wipers.

My brother had a 1972 Duster (318 auto) with the factory rear window blower. He got the car in the mid 1980s. The blower didn't stay there very long; he upgraded the radio, including a pair of 6"x9" speakers.

I never had any issues with driver comfort in my '88 Diplomat. It was much better for me than my '68 Barracuda that I had around the same time. The driver's door arm rest was too far forward and high; my left arm would go numb on long trips. A-bodies may be nice to look at, but I find the...

    Glowing Red Catalyst

I had a similar problem on my '88 Diplomat (with a 318 & Quadrajet): main cat glowing bright red, air pump long since disconnected. It turned out the choke had failed (again) and it was running stinking rich (not opening all the way). Rochester used an electric element on this Q-jet and I had...

    Dome Light Fuse Blowing????

I would look into the possibility that when working on the ignition switch, the wire for the ignition switch lamp got pinched or grounded. It looks like you might be able to deactivate the lamp by yanking the time delay relay.

Given enough time and exposure, FMJ bodies will rot out like anything else. After sixteen Michigan winters, the rockers on my '88 Diplomat had rusted to the point where I couldn't use the sill jack to change tires anymore (although they looked okay from the outside). The first year (1976)...

Random non start condition. 86 dippy

I had the same random issue on my 1988 Diplomat. I could usually cure it by disconnecting/reconnecting the terminal at the starter relay. You may need to clean the terminals at the block. Also check the wires at the starter. The critters chewed the insulation off the starter wiring.

What can we do to make things better?

It's sort of a "glass half full or half empty" perspective. We should be happy with the traffic that we do have, and I believe some people have actually been helped. Having spent some time on the more popular sites (B-bodies), I can attest that, with more people, it's more likely that innocuous...

    Stainless Steel Sill (Rocker), Panels

Actually, my '88 Diplomat also had screws holding on the covers. It looked bad, but since the car was only five years old, I assumed it was factory.

Lock-up Torque Converter Not Locking Up

The lock up feature is there just to increase fuel mileage. If the car drives okay otherwise, and the mileage is acceptable, then leave it as is.

'79 Aspen parts car in Chi-town

If you are buying a vehicle with the idea that it will at least hold its value, it should have a bowtie or a galloping pony on it.

    Link to A-bodies Site

Notice anything odd about this desktop screenshot? Allow me to point out the obvious: it has no link to "For A-Bodies Only" and a redundant link to FMJ Bodies. I find these links useful on occasion, although I'm a member of just a couple of these sites.

    Window Motor Swap

This reminds me of an issue I had with my '88 Diplomat: the right rear door power window would only open about a half an inch. I believe the window was jammed in the rear track with the weather strip falling apart. The car was over ten years old, and the other three windows worked okay; so I...

    1980 Volare Cop Car

Both my R-body and M-body had these covers. I had to put a board underneath the battery because newer batteries were shorter. Interestingly, the cover for the 1980 Gran Fury also contained the windshield washer fluid.

The diagram should be on a sticker under the hood; they may also be found in the factory service manual.

    2 groove power steering pulleys?

The only reason Chrysler used two belts on anything was to get enough traction to run the AC compressor. Some small blocks from the 1960s used one belt on the compressor because they had more belt wrap.
