If it does say rwd it's the right one. Yeah the name game with them is confusing. Thsts why a lot of parts places just called it full size or rwd rather them the model name.. same issue with Cadillac fleetwood identity crisis going back and forth between fwd and rwd.

It depends on if they used the right name or not. 84 new Yorker is K-car but it's obvious what it is from pics.

Dont scare him lol You're not replacing the whole thing. Cut chunks out bigger then the rusted areas and a body shop or anyone decent at welding can replace those sections. That F body panel has everything you need and should be the same for those areas. Just sayin.... too bad its not your bad...

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

They seem to be to stop travel more then anything else. One side or both the springs are removed the same way no special tools necessary. Oddly the weak link is the oval. Every one I've owned has had them stretch or break. Always the passenger side more then the other.

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

Something round still covers enough of those bushings to press or pull them out. I've never had luck with a hammer. They either come out easily or the rubber absorbs any of the blow. I had one set on mine I forget what hanger it was now but I couldn't get on there to burn it out and pressing it...

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

It sounds like you're talking about the normal bracket with the pin through it? Otherwise again we need pics! When the bushings don't easily slide out they need to be pressed out, cut or burnt. A ball joint type puller should work or maybe being creative with a nut and bolt and socket and a...

Need Steering parts for 1983 Diplomat Police car

Any parts store and Rock Auto has most of that and a lot of it isn't police specific or at least the parts are the same but not as heavy duty.

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

Whatever they are don't sound like anything factory bur there's been 40.plus years of tind for people to throw whatever the latest hoodoo is on there to compensate for bad springs or because they think looks cool.

    New Battery Questions

Looks like 34 is also listed. Unless you have the big plastic thermoguard hold down cover thing most battery sizes fit just make sure the posts are on the proper sides and not too far forward.

Yes Sawzall it off should be pretty easy. I like the Miluake Torch blades for cutting metal like that. Cut up some truck cab corners a few weeks ago, the panels you need are a lot easier but you might want to get the inner and outer panels together. The plus side is those lower quarter panels...

    Rear leaf spring "tensioner"??

The only thing I see in the manual is a spring stretcher tool, nothing else shown at the shackle or extra steps to remove anything?

Chain goes the same place you've used or better yet bolted to the heads/engine. Intake plate doesn't use chain.

Another one could easily have the same rust or other issues and add finding decent AHB onto that. If thats the only major rust fix it. If you want to do it on the cheap knowing it'll come back fill with with fiberglass or bondo.

    Mangum manifolds worth while?

They fit but there are clearance issues with steering and other areas, nothing that can't be overcome with work. But but there's also not much gain unless you use the couple of bigger years of them. There are posts about both here. If you drive in a place that's cold you also loose the heat...

I think paint code is usually on second row. I like white but the problem with it is if you don't get all the rust fixed properly it's first to show it when it comes back. The trunk flipper was originally riveted on.

    Mini starter problems

The stud isn't needed and can be replaced with a bolt. It's only there to make it easier to install the starter. Not as bad with the mini starter but with the bigger one you're holding it in place with one hand trying to get the first bolt in blind with the other.

How would I reattach drooping headliner without taking it out, replacing it, or... thumbtacks

Unless you want to add bows across the ceiling to hold it up you don't. It's come down because the foam under the material breaks down. You could try replacing the material whole it's in the car but that would make a pretty big mess and gravity might not let the glue work properly.

That rust needs to be replaced with new metal. You can bondo it but it will eventually continue. There's a different 1 spot for big blocks on the same cap. Ignore the differences and put the wires in the same locations they came off. The cap only goes on one way.

    Best shocks for stock suspension

They drive like the typical car their age but not that bad even with worn out shocks. The biggest thing that makes then sway and wave around is bad bushings and worn out leaf springs. Being an older one there's also a chance there's something wrong with the K frame.
