    New from AZ

Welcome to the group, friend! 2 votes for Marty at AZ Parts as mentioned earlier. I'm actually meeting him today for the first time and will report back. So far, the dude seems solid. I have miscellaneous interior parts as I go through my build. Message me with your needs and I'll let you know...

Gen 3 Hemi into a Volare headers

Hope this info can be helpful to some Hemi swap projects out there. Here are some pics for reference. I'm swapping a Gen3 Hemi into an 88 Plymouth Fury. These are the Holley Hooker Blackheart low profile Hemi swap manifolds. I have them on backwards for a turbo setup, but you can plainly see...

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

Been while since I've updated anything on this process. I took last summer off, but made some progress when it got cool again. Now, it's time to assemble the front chassis/suspension and get my Hemi bolted in. T56 6-speed is waiting to be fitted up. Gonna be a lot of cutting. :) Here are some...

    M-body Gen3 Hemi mounts - Schumacher vs Holley/Hooker

Bingo, I figured I'd cut/grind off the flange and just weld a flat plate joining the upper and lower sections. Easy-peazy!

    M-body Gen3 Hemi mounts - Schumacher vs Holley/Hooker

Finally, some updates after getting my Holley oil pan installed. The Holley motor mounts are juuuuuuust a bit too far back for a bolt-in fit. The pan just barely hits the welded seam of the K-frame. A little cutting and welding will easily clear this up. Overall, not a massive problem. Even if...

Holley Hemi Swap Oil Pans - fitment issues

Did a little grinding and it fits pretty well. I need to install the windage tray and pickup, but I believe it'll be fine. I lost my long 14mm 12pt 1/2" drive socket need for these friggin ARP head stud nuts. That'll stop you dead in your tracks.

Holley Hemi Swap Oil Pans - fitment issues

Holley did respond that with a polite, although predictable response that they're aware of the issue but this was not considered during initial production. Sounds like they'll alter the molds, but that'll be a new revision down the line. Time to get out the die grinder!

Holley Hemi Swap Oil Pans - fitment issues

I recently received (after a 2 month wait) my center sump cast aluminum oil pan from Holley. Firstly, I ordered directly from Holley and when my order was due to ship (Feb 28th) they bumped me to an April ship date. Turns out they fulfilled all the big name stocking orders first (Summit, Jegs...

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

That's a great thing to double check. Thanks for that. I only want this thing going sideways down the road if there's a cloud of tire smoke being left behind.:p:p

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

Sometimes, the work is just to prove to myself I can do it or it can be done. And further more, the cutting has begun! :)

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

This is great info. Since I'm going to be fabbing new stuff all around, now's the time to optimize these things. And, you make a great point about yoke spline engagement. There's usually a little wiggle room, but I've seen too many people dismiss this and wonder why they pole-vault their car...

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

I'm not going super huge. I'll probably end up with a 295 or 315 at the most. Since I'll be doing a decent amount of driving, I don't want to set this up so it only fits a $350-$400 tire. I plan on LOTS of burnouts. But, I at least want to get a decent drag tire in there when I need it...

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

Yes, good idea. I explored the method of spreading the leafs outward in the back a little to help with lateral stability. However, I'll have solid mounts in front and solid sliders in the back. I'll build it parallel and if I still have any lateral movement, I'll build a panhard bar or something.

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

That's an excellent point about locating the axle. I'm swapping in a Ford 8.8, so I'll be able to properly locate that guy a little farther back.

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

Yes, that looks to be tricky. What did you do to get the clearance in that area? Did you just cut it out?

Gran Fury: Cutting some frame rails and relocating some leaf springs

I'm moving along with modifying the back end of my 88 Fury. I thought I'd sure some work and outline my thoughts. The plan was to widen the wheel tubs and trim the sheet metal on the outer frame rails. All lot of room can be had without doing a complete back-half. This led to the leaf...

    Police HD K-Frame reference pictures

I was thinking of the horizontal bolts that hold the A-arm mounting plate to the K-frame. Specifically the upper two bolts. I thought by having a stud thread all the way through, I can preload the whole assembly against the frame rail and then tighten down a nut to hold the plate. Kinda like...

    Police HD K-Frame reference pictures

And yes, this is an 88 Gran Fury. Former City of Mesa, AZ police car. Regarding added reinforcement to the inner part of the upper A-arm support (green arrow), I wonder if an addition, horizontal brace/mount could be made to go between the frame rail and the just above the welded/reinforced...

    Police HD K-Frame reference pictures

BudW, thank you so much for all that info. It's exceptionally helpful and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it when others who have "been there, done that" can chime in with useful info. So many forums are full of people who blast out opinions with no receipts to back em up. I'm so glad...

    Police HD K-Frame reference pictures

I had my K-frame chemical dipped and took a bunch of pictures of it before I paint it. I hope these can be some good reference pictures for others to find useful. I see what must be a lot of extra welding and bracing that I imagine wasn't on the standard vehicles. If anyone has any thoughts on...

    M-body Gen3 Hemi mounts - Schumacher vs Holley/Hooker

For what it's worth, I received a message on 1/11/22 from MoTech Performance that "We don’t have those yet, it’ll probably be about 4 months until we get around to the G3 Hemi stuff". So, no Hemi mounts until May 2022. Suck, but that's life. I'll probably buy the Holley mounts and see how well...

    Weatherstripping woes

Yes, this is for the 4 door M-body of the 1988 variety. It seemed that a lot of the seals are gonna be of the "Make yer own" variety. The door stuff seems to be pretty model specific though. I'm sure a little creativity will get me there, but I wish there was a "Add to Cart" for the exact...
