Mirada math is like chicken math

you start with one, then you buy a parts car,and then you find one at a price you can't pass up.

    1980ish Mirada build

Sweet. I just happen to think about it and wondered how it was coming.

What's the latest on the 360 crank in the 318 build?

    3.9 L Mirada CMX

The internals are the same on an 8.25. There's only one series carrier so the pieces will interchange between the 8.25 in the Mirada and the 8.25 in the Dakota.

    3.9 L Mirada CMX

I've thought about doing a turbo 3.9 V6 in a Mirada for years. It would be like a Mopar version of the Buick T types. I have an '80 CMX in my garage and the 3.9 from a '95 Dakota sitting on the floor next to it. To be honest, that may be all the further it gets, but it's nice to dream about.

'81 Mirada rear disc brake conversion

Thank you for taking the time to share this information. I'd been wondering if Jeep disc brakes could be installed on the 8-1/4 in a Mirada. I wasn't sure about the offset, but now I know.

    1980ish Mirada build

Cool. I can completely respect that and hope it all works out as planned. I really enjoy seeing builds that aren't common and this one fill that bill. Keep us posted so we know how it turns out.

    1980ish Mirada build

Hey, just a question. Why pay to have the mains turned down on the 360 crank so they fit the 318 block rather than build a 360? I'm the first to admit I don't know everything so that's why I'm asking. Is there a benefit to the smaller bore and longer stroke that's worth the expense of the...

Do I need a Stall converter???

I've always chosen the stall speed for a converter based on the cam specs. A good rule of thumb is a stall speed that's 500 RPM above when the cam comes in. For example, if the cam manufacturer lists an RPM range of 2000 to 6500, the converter needs to have a 2500 RPM stall speed. No this isn't...

    8.25 vs. 8.75

Like I mentioned, I don't know anything from anything, but was the Duster running street tires? I don't drag race, so I don't have personal experience, but I've been told the traction from a street tire isn't enough to nreak an axle unless there's something wrong with the axle and that's why...

    8.25 vs. 8.75

I don't know anything from anything, but several years ago one of the car magazines ran an article on rebuilding the 8.25. One of the arguments they made for keeping the rear end is it's already in the car. The writer of the article said short of an application running slicks, the 8.25 holds up...

    1980 Mirada roof trim

That may be. The second picture is my '80 CMX. It just seems all the Miradas I've seen without the fake convertible top have the roof trim or crown. I guess I need to look closer from now on.

    1980 Mirada roof trim

Yesterday, I picked up an '80 Mirada for parts. It's the first time I've ever seen a Mirada without the trim across the roof. This car has the trim going up along the quarter windows, but it stops at the top of the windows. It recessed and there is no indication there ever was a trim piece...

    SUM-6901 Cam

Most of the cam characteristics are given based on an engine of around 350 ci. so in a 318, you can expect the cam to act like a slightly bigger cam (sorry, I dont' know how much bigger). Because of the 318's relatively small displacement, I'd stick with the 6900. Especially with the stock...

    1/4 mile times

My '80 Mirada with 2.2 gears and 2 barrel 318 ran 19.15 @ 70.71 in the quarter. I changed the gears to 3.07 and went 17.97 @ 73.31. Not much difference in numbers, but I could tell a difference going down the track.

    New guy from Ohio

I think I saw that car at the Piston Power Show at the IX center a couple of years ago. Unless there's another Roadrunner with Mirada wheels. I was impressed and pleasantly sruprised how good the wheels looked on the car then and still am.
