    68-70 Bellhousing on M Body

When I put the 4 speed in my 80 Mirada I used an early 70's A body bellhousing and everything fit fine. You just need to match the bearing diameter of your gearbox to bellhousing. (4.35" or 5.125") and you'll need to use an LA360 flywheel.

    Same question one more time

I used the cheapo Heddman 78050 headers on mine. They fit fine, no bashing of tubes or inner fenders needed. Though one of the pipes does come close to the inner fender on the passenger side. You have to remove the transmission brace on the passenger side too. The instructions mentioned about...

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

I've had it on the road a little last year and have been driving it this year and it's been great so far. Other than a slight leak at the reverse switch, no problems with the gearbox and I didn't rebuild it. Lots more fun than the automatic even though the car was fun before. Need to take some...

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

The floor hump came from a Volare 4 speed car I believe. I got it from a guy on Moparts years ago. It fit the floor perfectly I basically just cut the floor out about 1" inside the perimeter of hump, being careful to just cut the floor by the transmission crossmember and not the crossmember itself

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

It's a best of Alice Cooper lol. Thanks for the compliments guys. Another thing I forgot to mention was the Z bar mount on the frame. On an F body the z bar mount is extra piece welded into the frame pocket. Like this: The hole and cutout for the Z bar in the frame rail is already there. I...

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

I posted in another thread a few years ago about the pedal assembly. But basically you can't use the F body pedal support bracket as is because it's shorter than the J body one, and doesn't reach the steering column support bracket. I don't have many pics but all you have to do is use the longer...

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

The clutch setup is all factory parts. A mix of A body and F body. The clutch rod and Z bar are F body, the hole is already in the firewall for the clutch rod, it just has a blank plug in it, but accepts the factory clutch rod boot. The bellhousing and throwout fork are 68-70 A body just stuff I...

It's basically a recreation of the one that rusted out using another car. Even down to the mr horsepower sticker in the window lol

    '80 Mirada 4 speed

I thought I'd finally post some pics of my '80 Mirada I converted to a 4 speed and got back on the road after 5 years or so. I posted some progress pics in the old 'lets see them j bods' thread a few years ago but never really got around to posting much more other than when I went through the...

    Imperial Wiper Question

I think this is the part you need? 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 Chrysler Cordoba Dodge Mirada windshield wiper repair kit | eBay I believe it's the same part used on Cordobas and Magnums too. The originals are prone to falling apart when they get old,and these are supposed to be made out of more...

Collectors Auto Supply sells the 8 piece kit for Mirada/Cordoba window felts. I bought a set in 2013 but didn't bother using the inners since the old ones were fine. It doesn't fit all that great as the profile of the metal backing is slightly different than the original, and many of the holes...

    F body Z bar bracket

Gathered up from ebay and various sites like this and moparts over the years, never got around to installing it until last year or so. The trans is '68 A body, as is the shifter. The shifter rods and clutch rod/adjuster I got from Brewers. Z bar and bellhousing were ebay I think. The hump is...

    F body Z bar bracket

I found a picture of a members car in another thread. What i ended up doing wasn't the most elegant solution but it was the simplest. I just took a piece of 2" x 1/8 flatbar about 5" long and bolted it to the frame rail and fender apron with 3/8 bolts. It put the Z bar in the right place and...

    F body Z bar bracket

Anyone with a manual transmission F body able to take a pic of the frame side bracket for the Z bar stud? I'm converting my Mirada over to a 4 speed and was wondering if I could make something to duplicate the factory setup. The 1980 service manual I have doesn't show it clearly.

This is the tag that was on it. Interesting that it was made in 2013, so there should be a few more of these floating around somewhere?

So just to update all this, I did get a new windshield. While I was waiting for Moparts to get back to me on a another used windshield, one of the local glass places called me back saying they could get one. I was skeptical but they didn't want a deposit so I said go ahead and order it. Well 2...

    J body windshield locating tabs

Does anybody have a car that has the lower windshield trim removed so they can measure the windshield locating tabs for me? Mine are missing and I want to get the windshield in the right place. They are plastic from what I remember near the center of the car, I just need a measurement from the...

    Mirada Nosecone

The nose is urethane with a fiberglass reinforcement piece which is what the headlight assemblies are attached to. As said above the bumper is completely separate behind it. It's pretty much a C shaped channel with foam on it. I'd just put POR15 or something on it to keep it from getting worse...

How Do J Bodies compare to M Bodies?

I'm a big J body fan, but in my experience Fifth Avenues and Diplomats are a lot tighter in the squeaks and rattles department. Being sedans, there is less body flex and the doors actually have window tracks unlike J bodies which just have the regulator on a stick that allows to the glass to...

    J Windshields

Yeah, I had 3 trays of silica beads in the container over the winter. The few times I checked it was dry in there. There's no motor/trans in the car right now so I have to push it in and out. I can pull it out by myself easy but it takes 2 people to get it back in. With the car over to one side...

    J Windshields

If anyone is interested here's a few pics. Since I don't have a garage, I've been keeping the car in a container since it was painted in January. I roll it out now and then to do some work on it. When I get the glass in finally I'll bring it home and get it back on the road as soon as I can.

I tried dw 930 at 2 different glass places in town, there's also another number dw 913. I was told neither are available anywhere in Canada. Maybe your guy looked up the number but didn't check to see if it was available or not? Either way, I managed to get another used one. Hopefully this one...

    J Windshields

Did anyone try to get one using this number? I need another one. I'm so pissed right now but the one I got from Moparts made it here fine, and I had it stored in it's box in my hallway for a couple of weeks. Well today I take it out to scrape the old urethane off it and I see the whole corner...
