Installing The Carpet

Well had a little free time today and thought I would start laying the carpet. Mass backing is a little more trickier then just the regular carpet. The key is to take your time and cut just a little off at a time with a sharp razor. It also helps to have a heat gun to warm the rubber up a little for shaping around the floor board corners. I half to take a lot of time on mine I did not have any old carpet to use as a pattern. Not a problem a hole punch will solve that issue or stake nails. Pictures really don't do it much justice black is kinda hard to take pictures of but I will get some better pictures when complete. Should have it complete some time tomorrow. Looks good to me.

Dying The Seat Belts

Went to the local junk yard today. Found some seat belts that were blue in color and I was needing black so I dyed them to match the interior. Worked out really nice and only took about one hour to complete. Rinse them well in cold water and the dye will hold and not rub off on clothes. Before and after pictures.

What you need. One old pot. One gallon jug. Four boxes of Rit powder dye in box and one pair of tongs.Take the pot you have and put water in it. Let the water boil on the stove. Then add two cups of vinegar to the hot water in the pot. Take a one gallon jug and add four cups of hot water to it and then place the four boxes of Rit to the jug. Shake the jug up for a few minutes and then pour the contents of the jug into the pot of boiling water. Then place the belts in the pot and boil them for 40 minutes. Flip them over a few times to get complete coverage. Take the belts out and place them in luke warm water and rinse each belt in cold water a few times and you now have different color seat belts. Rinse them well and take a white T- Shirt and test them. If no bleeding you have accomplished the task. Notice the buckles are black and mine do not rub off either nor do the belts.

Heater Core Removal

Well noticed there was smoke coming from my vents. So popped the dash off and heater box. Yep heater core is dust not to mention all the nest and leaves crammed in there. I caught it before it screwed my carpet. Tomorrow I will re install a new one. Sleep Now.

They say it pays to have old friends. Took the heater core to a old friend who owns a Radiator Shop. Told him Auto zone and Advance could not order me a new heater core and that I need one now. He re soldiered mine and put a new core on it and tested it for $10 bucks and a 12 pk of bud. What a life savor. Now I just need to get off the beer and Get R Done.

Rebuilding the fuel sending unit. Missing sock and the inside resister was broke. Haven't had time to reinstall it yet to see if it will work but hoping it does. Made sure to keep the original seal since not dry rotted just in case the after market seal crap leaks. Thank You

New custom belts front and rear. The chrome buckles make it pop. Not bad for a weekend cruiser. Nothing like new. Thank You
