I have a question on my k frame. is this able to be saved? The hole is rusted pretty bad. also how do I remove the coupling from the steering box? My last one had a simple roll pin.

Yes I believe it can be repaired, what I would do with a K frame after removing from the body and removing all parts from it is to have it sandblasted. This will remove all rust and expose all cracks. Repairing rust is strait a forward repair if you have a welder or know someone who does.

So it took a propane torch, a drill, a big hammer, a punch, and a ball joint remover to finally get the steering coupler off the steering box but it's finally done. probably didn't even need the plastic infused roll pin to hold it in place

The plastic insert to the roll pin was added by assembly line inspectors to verify/confirm the pin was in place. This step was added after a few cars had pins omitted during assembly (but not sure what damage could have happened in those cases, sense the coupler can’t go anywhere).
