Anyone know how or if a horn button for a 4 spoke tuff wheel comes apart. The foil backed center applique is coming apart on one of mine. I have a NOS applique but how do I get the old one out to put the new one in?! My parts book is no help. The image it gives is way too vague.

How about a picture, tuff wheels are 3 spoke, not sure what you are trying to fix.

In 82 Chrysler replaced the 3 spoke tuff wheel with a new 4 spoke version. It only lasted until 84. It was used in higher end cars and trucks and came in a all black version with black spokes and a bunch of interior colored versions with silver spokes. There were also closed spoke versions which are very rare. Not sure if Chrysler ever officially called it a tuff wheel in any of their literature or manuals but its pretty clear that the wheel was ment to replace the tuff wheel. In my 82 Mirada sales brochure its just called a sport steering wheel.

It is probably removed from the back of the center cap.

No they have a weird design. Looking at them you see no obvious way for it to come apart. I was thinking it might all be glued and you would have to make a real mess out of it to get it apart. It's all right though I got word from a guy on eBay selling one that it's just a tight friction fit. Just have to gently work the pad up from the base and it'll come apart into its 3 pieces. Thanks anyways.

that looks close to the wheel i have on my ramcharger.Be carefull prying that off, there is a round "neck" on the backside that has little catch clips to hold the cap on and they break easily.Use finesse and not muscle.

Does a regular tuff wheel center fit that wheel?

Sadly no. However with a little tweaking I think you could do it. The 4 spoke wheel doesn't use the can that the tuff wheel does. Its all part of the wheel. So the piece on the horn button that attaches to the wheel is longer than a tuff wheel because the hole in the center of the wheel is deeper. You could make an adaptor out of metal to make it work. The 4 spoke center can be made to fit a tuff wheel as well (it will lock on but stick up to high) but that means cutting down the inside of the horn button which can't be undone obviously.
