This looks like a nice car for a nice price listed this morning on HMN.

I really like the colors, and it is optioned up with power seats, windows, cruise, etc., and a 400. There is just something about the early Cordobas....:)

They have done the work on it, and kept it nice. If the under-body is not a total pile of rust then it could be a nice buy. I would want to see complete under-body pictures though. They took very thorough pictures. So I have to wonder why no under-body shots?

I like the 75-76 non mean burn ones with the 400. You can still find deals on those but soon they will start disappearing and going up like many other old cars.

My favorite wheels too.
There's some serous rust to consider on that one though.
Whoever did the left quarter botched it big time

You can pick it apart but for 3600 or less it looks like a deal.

I agree Oldiron. From the looks of the top side, it is not so likely the undercarriage is very bad, but it would be nice for some pics underneath. Regardless, if I was in the market for a Cordoba, I would be all over this one!

So who is near enough to go look at it for me??

Seriously
It's a 493 mile trip one way for me, 7 1/2 hours. Damascus VA is right on the border of North Carolina. Sorry, if it was closer, I'd be glad to. It really looks like a nice Cordoba. I wonder if you could have a local mechanic check it out. It would be a great road trip to fly in and drive it home though! (hint, hint!) :)

I'm such a sucker for the floor shifter on a 400 engine
and of course
that Fine Corinthian Leather.
And I will publicly admit to a preference for green.

The interior is really nice, especially with the console.

I got the owner to post some undercarriage pictures on Hemmings.
I think it looks pretty good.

He also added (in a private message) that he's never had any body work done and has owned it 38 years.
The PO replaced the door with a used one and repaired the quarter panel but didn't do a great job of it.
Says the pin hole in the door has been there for years.
Says he thinks its a little under powered for a 400 but it cruises well.

I'll have to 1. buy it without looking directly at it unless I hire someone to do that locally and 2. have it shipped (can't leave husband for a 1,000 mile trip).

This is really a temptation.
Waiting on shipping quotes.

I wouldn't be concerned about the power of a 400 it will be enough.

So this gets me back to painting cars.

Both the 5th avenue and assuming I get this cordoba will need to be painted.
5th avenue has lost its clear coat
apparently this cordoba, after repairing the repairs on the left would need a new coat so everything would match.

Do I have to remove the old paint first, or just etch the old paint and lay on a new layer after things are repaired?
Having never painted an auto before, it looks like I need to jump into something new this fall.

I'm going to need a garage or a pole barn.

What was it George Carlin said 'If you get stuff, you wind up buying more stuff for your stuff.'

It really is very dependent on what kind of shape the paint is in. Colour match for the old paint and the new paint will probably never be possible. If the old paint is in really good shape (and this assumes that the old paint is single stage. i.e. no clear coat), without any defects, you could rough up the old paint (hand sand) and put a new coat on. You must be absolutely sure that the old paint is on solid, and is absolutely clean. Any contamination (from dust, metal particles to old wax, detail spray, etc.) will create problems that will range from odd appearance to paint not adhering properly.

Doesn't look like this deal will happen.
Current owner is 70 plus and appears to want to deal in cash only.
Its about a 1,000 mile trip for me to get there so if he doesn't want to
work this out...
I'll still be looking for a 2 door 70's car.
Besides, I still need to paint the Chrysler fifth avenue... plenty for me to be doing.
