Hi Guys,

I want to take off my air con, for a few reasons, the gas has leaked out, its huge and ugly and in NZ it only gets hot enough a few times a year to need it. when you take it out where do you route the belts, do I need to add an idler pulley or can I just route a shorter belt to the Alternator?

Thanks
Bruce

Just run a single shorter belt around the crank and to the alternator. This rib on the water pump has to be filed down.

Option #2 is to run an idler pulley.
If memory serves.... they can be found in 1988-1991 v6 and v8 dodge ram's without a/c or 1987-1991 v6 dakotas without a/c.
