Carter Carb Adjustments

What slot do you have your fast idle screw set on? I am trying to adjust this old carter carb. I got the air and fuel mixtures pretty close to right but the fast idle screw wants to stick sometimes which is causing my engine Rpm's to jump sometimes. Here is a partial diagram I found but it isn't all that clear on the slot setting with choke all the way opened. Thank You.

I'd hit all the steppers and linkages with carb cleaner and then silicone to prevent sticking...
