How much tire can you fit under the back of a Mirada? I'm in the process of a the purchase of one as we speak. Or type. Just learning the J-body ropes. It's gonna stay a small block for now, and it will get an 8.75 immediately.
Will be something to race and drive on a limited basis while I work on my GTS and Super Bee.

275/60/15 on a 15X7 Mirada rim is the biggest I've gone with a stock location rear axle. That's a 28" tall tire, 9" wide.
I have moved the axle back 1 to 1.5" to fit a 30X10 GoodYear DOT Drag Radial.

The BFG Radial T/A 275/60/15 would rub, ever so slightly between the wheel well at the lower/ front inside edge. (Almost by the front spring hanger) during hard cornering. ISO elimination reduces this.

With the 8 3/4 you can use the fwd most hole in the spring perch ( instead of the normal center hole ) to run 30" diameter tires.

Swaping in an 8 3/4 might require a shorter driveshaft.

I have 275/60/15's on 15x7 cop wheels on mine. They rub the lower part of the wheelwell sometimes when going around corners. Mine has a '68 8 3/4 in it though, which is slightly narrower than the stock 7 1/4 I believe. The cop wheels have a 4 1/4" back space, but something with 4" backspace, or even a 15x8 wheel still with 4 1/4" backspace would help some.

Cool. I like cop wheels on them. But I also like the stock wheels. Hmmmm.
