I swapped over from my JC Whitney Sun tach to a Auto meter Shift lite tach. Both are 4 wire: Black is ground, Red is switched 12 volts, Whit is illumination 12 volts, and green is the signal coming in from the neg off the coil. Now, the issue is the needle moves only a half an inch. I'm thinking I may need to wire something into theshift light but it is internal to the tach. Any suggestions? thanks

AutoMeter tachs are preset at the factory for 8cyl engines. You might have to change the DIP switch position?

Thanks guys. I see on this Autometer tach there are two looped wires sticking out of the hole on the back of the case. Cut one for 4 cyl, cut the other for 6 cyl, cut neither for 8 cyl. Are there dip switches inside the case as well? I know the JC one had a switch on the back. I'm still scratching my head on this.

I forgot to mention LEAN BURN DELETE

Since I have the 5 wire chrome box, I need to connect the tach signal to the gray wire. This is off the Auto meter web site. Anyone else tie into this gray wire with a tach?
