Just picked up a '78 Volare wagon, slant six with A/C. The "squirrel cage" is making a loud vibrating sound when it's running. Also, hit the heat button, nothing comes out the floor, hit the A/C button, compressor comes on, still nothing blows out. I live in Florida, so this time of year, you may need heat in the morning and A/C in the afternoon. All help is appriciated.

Noises from the squirrel cage means one of 2 things:

1) Some critter has made a nest in there and it is throwing everything off balance (this could also explain your lack of air flow).

2) The bearing in the fan motor is toast and requires replacement.

X2.....

Your other issue might be that your vacuum lines to your heat/AC controls have crumbled and disintegrated
