I think the gas tank on the wagons hold an extra gallon of gas, but I'm not 100% sure. I believe the 2 and 4 doors are the same

The owner's manual in my '79 Aspen says:
6 cylinder, except wagon 18 gal
8 cylinder and all wagon 19.5 gal
Makes no mention of a difference between 2 and 4 door.

I looked in my ’80 parts manual. The fuel tank is the same for all ’80 F-body (H and N carlines) and M-body (F and G carlines) – no matter of engine size or doors on car.

The picture shows the hump style tank - so guess they were too lazy to change the picture?

As far as I’m aware, there is only 4 different fuel tanks used for F & M bodies (not sure about carbureted J-bodies, for not looked before – but suspect it to be the same).
- ’76 to mid-year ’77 F-body (April 1, 1977) (the hump style)
- Mid-year ’77 F-body (April 2, 1977) and all ’77 M-body to mid-year ’79 F and M body (April 2, 1979)
- Mid-year ’79 F and M-body (April 3, 1979) to end of production ’89 (and J-body??)
- Fuel injected Imperials

The Hump style tanks will only fit cars with round spare tire trunks (like my ’77 wagon, which was built November ’76).

This is a picture of Ole Yellows '78 Aspen wagon (typical of all FMJ's built after mid-year '77)

A lot more trunk space! This vehicle will have the flat fuel tank in it.

I have heard of people using the ’80 and up tank (mid-year ’79 and up) in the “mid-year ’77 to mid-year ’79” cars – but not been involved with that install so can’t say for sure. I would think they would fit, if you have correct sending unit to go along with it.

If this doesn't answer your question, can you re-phrase and ask again?
