Of a 360 with FiTech fuel injection and a five-speed Tremec (tko 500). 391 sure grip 8 1/4 rear axle. Guy wants a lot for it ($9600), but it is clean.

I really know nothing of Tremec's rep. I've heard good and bad about the FiTech.

Comes down to how much the parts are worth and what kind of job they did installing it.
I would rather spend the time to do changes like that myself then pay up for someone elses project that you have no idea how the work was done or what all they did to it. For every car done right there are several hack job frankenstein ones.

If the swap was done right, that is a nice pile of parts. Tremec is a popular swap for anything with more gears than an 833. FITech is ok. Would be curious if they used the secondary fuel tank under the hood FITech sells. Those were problematic.

Is the car a coupe? The Tremec swap is $4k unto itself, but if was done to a sedan $9600 is way too much. A tad high for a coupe too.

Caravelle is the Canuck Plymouth version...is the car in the US or my side across the river? (if here, could check it out for you some more)

As to the price-tag...well, I'd say if the work is quality work, then you are fine, perhaps a tad on the high end, but this stuff costs $$$.

It is on your side. Oshawa-Durham area. Here's the Kijiji ad:

Between the high price and lack of decent pics it doesn't seem like he's in any rush to sell.

Wonder if it's AHB or just the wheels. Would benefit from the other AHB upgrades. With the 8.25 rear too, it might be AHB. That's more valuable. I agree with Mark, FiTech is good with in tank pump. Underhood system can be problematic. Heat issues I believe. Could be a fun car.

From what I've read, the fuel pump failure problems of the early Fitech units has been resolved with the Hyperfuel Command Center 2.0

Maybe. Took me two returns. I also wrapped it with a thermal barrier, so maybe that helped.

Well, it's not an AHB. Here's from the seller:
The engine is a 1975 360 bored 60 over making it a 372. The block was decked
and the main caps honed. The main caps
are held in place with ARP studs.
The pistons are KB and attached by floating pins to Eagle SIR rods
The camshaft is a custom roller grind with a 620 lift. The lifters are Comp Cams retro Hydraulic roller.
The heads are aluminum Edlebrock/Indy
T/A requiring shaft mounted offset roller rocker arms.
The rocker arms are Harland Sharp 1.7 offset roller rockers. The valves are ferra 202/160 with soda filled intakes.
The valve springs are comp cams bee hive style with titanium locks.
The intake manifiold is a single plane air gap Edlebrock.
The fuel system is a fitek fuel injection system with an intank fuel pump. The headers are TTI ceramic coated with a custom made tig welded 2 1/2 inch stainless steel exhaust system that dumps out just behind the rear wheels

The transmission is a TKO 5 speed that operates by a Hydraulic throw out bearing and uses a centreforce dual friction clutch and pressure plate.

The rear axle is a 1985 8 1/4 police car axle with a suregrip and 391 gears along with police car sway bar.

Brakes are police car 11 3/4 in front and 11 3/4 rear drums. The master brake cylinder is an electric pressurized system. AWESOME BRAKES.

K frame has been seam welded all around for strength, and uses solid aluminum mounts to attach to the frame rails.

Hmm, too bad the photos are so tiny...but I will tell you this: if what the seller says is true, I think that car is worth more than what he's asking for. From what I see that's a pretty clean build there...again, hard to tell with a good amount of certainty, but it looks nice!

No joke, my personal perspective only. I re-built my coupe from ground-up, total cost (everything in, including machine work and various NOS pieces) was a tad over $23K CAD, so yeah, things add up real quick.

The engine stuff alone he's got listed there is a pretty good amount of $$$. Case in point, the 1.6 ratio W2 roller rockers I picked up for my stroker build are Harland Sharp, that's a spendy $1200 CAD just for those babies.

Thanks for the link to the bigger pics.

So the 1st comment I'd like to make is about the exhaust system. I think it's the 3rd pic (the side-view) where it looks like the pipes are hanging awefully low. Now that is hard to tell trully where they are, but they seem to be quite separate from the floor. Yet in the other shot it looks like they are quite fine.

Why do I pick on that? Well, a custom built exhaust is not a cheap thing. I had a 3" X-pipe setup done for my coupe and that was pretty much a $1k job, all hand-built, precisely welded including a pretty nice job over the rear axle and out behind the tires. But my exhaust is tucked in pretty neatly.

Here is what I mean:

pic3.jpg

This is the sort of stuff I would look for to spot a "cheapie" job...ie. some just trying to toss a few pretty things together but really underneath they cheap out.

On the other hand, the engine appears to have been on a dyno, no? Either that or a start-up stand...if dyno, what are the numbers? That retro-fit hydraulic roller cam feels like maybe the fastest CompCams lobes? These would be the QXI profiles...if so, great for lift but these things can be tough on your valvetrain...so if you're looking for longevity this may not be the hot ticket. Can the seller send you detailed specs?

Wow, that is a LOT of expensive parts. I take back my original assessment. What he is asking is fair. Even the condition of the underbody is fantastic. As long as the install was all done to pro standards, yeah, it's worth every penny.

I agree the work looks like it was done good and they started with a good car too.

The Tremec 5-speed (or 6-speed) is a popular transmission that has been on the market for decades now (derived from the T-5) and has been holding out well. Plenty of repair parts are available for it, as well. I will be purchasing the Tremec Magnum 6-speed (T6060) for my wagon and that transmission is being used on todays Challengers/Camaros/Mustangs and other cars. The Tremec 5-speed has also been used on production Vipers/Camaros/Mustangs, as well.

It sounds like he has a lot more $ in the car for that - but is it what you want. It sounds like it will be fun to drive.

Wish we got better pictures, but I might damage my keyboard with drool.
