Put the manifolds back on it, clean it up thoroughly and drive it. That would be a good car, too good to hack up

For five grand, I was tempted. Back in the day that was the car that had the "MD" plates on it. Looks like it has the "rich Corinthian leather" option....

One good thing is headers are a lot easier to install/remove from a C-body than a lot of other car types.
If this car had the performance engine, it would have came with the good low restriction exhaust manifolds. Wait, the '74's with performance engine were not the "good manifolds".
if a person got a stroker kit for it, the headers most likely would be needed again.

Put that car in a big diet, you might be able to take off a ton of weight. Add a stroker - I think a person could surprise a lot of people with that car at a stop light.

That said, I would probably keep the car as is.

For me, I'd have to make a few "upgrades". Car that old needs things like new brake lines, fuel line hoses, anything made of rubber or neoprene. Get rid of the original A\C compressor for a smaller more efficient one. Dump the headers for B body exhaust manifolds. Add a new cam and intake. Throw in a set of Monroe Load Leveler air shocks in the back and slap on a trailer hitch. That wagon with a low compression 440 would make a great tow rig to take a boat to the lake on nice sunny days with the kids and grand kids... in style!

Being a '74 station wagon - I would bet a $1 dollar bill, it has a factory 8-3/4" differential under it.

Nope, a 9.25 will be under there if it's stock.
