feeling ornery

I have a burning desire to drop the exhaust and do a high rpm blast down the highway with the windows down! Nascar style baby! Must be spring fever!

I had the exhaust unhooked on my Aspen way back when, doing something or another and took it around the block with open headers. A guy down the street, out in his yard, gave the big thumbs up!

3inch full length exhaust with Dynomax muffs.
At WOT she sounds like open headers without the cutting edges. Saves me crawling under there with wrenches.
The trouble is; top of third gear hits 112mph and two to go; and top of second is 82. She'll get to 82 in about 6 seconds with tires spinning most of the way ; it's never enough.
Sometimes I slam it into too high a gear and make her work.... hitting 82 at 5100 in third; still not enough.
More than once or twice is liking calling the cops and inviting them to the party......... it's never enough.
Back in the early 2000s I used to swap a 318 under the hood for the winter, sometimes with a manual shift A999 ,hiway gears, and with a 2800. Then get her up into "drive", just as quick as she'd take it, then at WOT wait, while the TQ moaned, and roared, ever louder, finally hitting 65mph after several minutes (lol); finally we're getting close to "enough". Stop, turn-around, and do it again.
No tirespin, no racing, no "imprudent" driving, and no cop-calling monkey business, just the mournful wailing of the mighty Thermo-quad.
yeah, those were the days.

I was watching part of "Christine" last evening and got to tell you, that Fury with all 8 barrels wide open, along with unsilenced air cleaners, is the best thing ever.

Well, I did it tonight! Ripped down the highway with open headers! IT WAS GLORIOUS! And I never exceeding 85 mph according to the speedo....
