For anybody considering these, know that they can be polished out, and look even better that way. It is labour intensive, but the end result is pretty spectacular. The thin chrome plating gets chipped or the clear coat get cracked, and then dirt gets underneath the clear coat and either just looks bad, or corrodes the thin chrome plating.

Just use 280/320 wet/dry sandpaper, followed by 600, then 1,000. After that, use a chemical metal cleaner (I use Flitz's Pre), followed by Flitz polish on a Flitz Powerball, and you are done. Do not try to use a sanding block of any type; there are a lot of very subtle contours to these wheels that don't allow the use of sanding blocks.

Can confirm what you're saying. Bought a set from Marty last year. Invested about 50 hours and a sore elbow I was pleased with the result:

There is no chrome plating its polished with clear over it.
There's at least two different types of those rims. The earlier ones don't have clear at all so the hard work is already done.

50 hours? That's just a good start. I once spent 5 days looking for my car keys... turns out they were in the ignition lock but as I was
tripping on 3 ounces of shrooms my cognitive senses were way off plus I had suffered a concussion after running full blast into a power
pole.

Lesson here: not sure but I'll think of one soon

Actually, there is some sort of chrome plating on it, or at least ehere was on my set of wheels. You can see it coming off when you start sanding, first through the very hard clear coat (my own suspicion is clear epoxy, but I could be wrong), and then the chrome layer. You can actually see the difference in shine between the chrome plating and the underlying aluminum as you go along. It is very thin, but it is there.
