condition: excellent

There was more info, but I just got to have me one of those new-fangled 5 cylinder engines...

That's because the 6th cylinder probably is dead. Those mitsuwishi engines were bad news. Now when they released the Chrysler 3.3 6 in 92, that was a nice engine.

The ’89 New Yorker (front wheel drive), the only engine was a 3.0L Mitsubishi.

The 3.3L came out on ’90 in the New Yorker and others.
Some of the parts on the 3.3L V6 engine shared parts from the 2.2L engine like rods and pistons.

X GF had a 3.0 in Her Mini Van and it ran great for many years,
with my maintenance of course.

I like the 3.3 better for one reason.
The 3.0 has the water pump behind the timing belt,
and the 3.3 is external and easy to get to.

If you have ever changed out a water pump in a 3.0. you will never want another one.

I had a chrysler concorde bought in 1997. Wonderful car. Loved it. Except when it came to water pump.
You literally had to move the engine to get to the pump at the back. And yes, the damn thing was all plastic.
Ate 3 pumps during my 10 years with that car.

I should have kept it and put a new engine in it when the computer spazzed and killed it. I did have it removed and turned upside down to drain... all these little bits of metal shards came out.
It was really sad.

Course that was back when I wasn't brave enough to work on them. Now, I'd keep it and replace the engine. Ah well. Live and learn.

Didn't the 3.3 morph into something like a 3.8 later in life? Was that engine as good as the 3.3?

The 3.3L and 3.8L engine are (for the most part) interchangeable.
The 3.3L uses piston and rods from 2.2L. The 3.8L uses 2.5L piston and rods.
The short block, intake manifold and pushrods are different between the 3.3L & 3.8L - but rest of engine is the same. You can install the 3.8L assembly in place of the 3.3L without any issue.
For comparison sake, think Chrysler “B” big block vs “RB” big block.

Both the 3.3L & 3.8L are pretty good and long lasting V6's.
The 2.7L V6, not so much.
