Woke up to 2" of snow and 12 degrees. Left for work,,,,,,,,,snowing. Half way there it stopped. Down at work (about 10 miles south), it had barely snowed until,,,,,,,,,,,this afternoon. Another 3" came down and yes, also 3" more at home. On the plus side it was nice and warm (NOT), high was 21. North central Wisconsin, even more BRRRRRRRRRRR.

And the wonky weather in North Texas continues.

No rain for over 10 weeks.
Back under a burn ban now.
No rain expected for 2 more weeks.
Was 76 today. just about 20 degrees above normal.
Pretty day, but I had my a/c on when I drove to town to mail my santa package to 89.Fifth.

Saw a herd of 10 to 15 feral hogs in a farmers field. Been too hot for deer hunting.
Thinking I'll have to go back to fishing for bass if this keeps up.

76? Just let me soak that up, at least in my mind! At 5:30am it was the big ol' goose egg, at 5:30pm it's a whopping 14 degrees with light snow. Only plus to it, if you can call it that is, the wind speed is exactly zero (thankfully!). Only 5 months to go until the car season opens up again. Hoping only 5 months, around here it could be another 6 months to wait. You just never know...................o_O

They "revised" the forecast a couple times. First it was downgraded to 4-8" of snow (from 6-10"), then it was 2-4" and now it's trace-1" and that is very good news. the very bad news is, they also revised the temps. Christmas day the predicted HIGH temp,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,-7(f). Son of a...........Oh well, we always make it through. Better than one year in the early '90's where there were 2 weeks straight in January where the WARMEST day got up to -20, I remember a day that the high was -31 degrees. There are no words to describe the suck that was.

Funnily enough, that very same year in July, there were 2 days in a row where the high was 109 degrees. Joys of Wisconsin, cold as -40 in winter and hot as 109 in the summer. Nice to have variety, isn't there?:D

Three days of zero temp and highs in the 20's. Unseasonable cold. Too damn cold for me.
Last night they said it would be about 15 and then we would start warming up to near 60 by the weekend.
Now that sounds more like it!

HOWEVER, this morning when I opened the door to let the dogs run, I was greeted to undigested mouse guts and tail which had a cat had so kindly threw up not 6 inches from the front door.
I get a paper towel to pick it up and throw it away.
Its frozen.
Its frozen and stuck to the wood deck.
Frozen and stuck to the wood deck so I couldn't even pry it loose with a screwdriver.

This is the absolute most disgusting thing to greet me in a great while.

Was a beautiful sunrise in the background though!

The warmest it's been here the past couple weeks was a balmy +9 the other day and windchills have been -20 to -35. They claim mid 20's this Sunday and only Sunday. The following Tuesday the forecast high is +4. :( I guess the bright side is we have so much work we're scheduling almost 2 weeks out. Long cold below zero cold spells are not kind to cars, especially those that haven't been maintained like they should.

Scratch that. They "revised" the forecast, as usual. Now we get upper 20's, possibly 30 Sunday through Thursday(!) Man I hope this forecast is correct!

Close to 40 this weekend, which is roughly 40 degrees warmer than one week ago. Bad part is, Sunday through Monday, rain, sleet, freezing rain and possibly 12" of snow. Grumble, complain, frown. Much sadness ensues.

Got this "climate change" thing figured out now. Yesterday afternoon around this time it was 34 degrees and today it's 3 degrees. See, the climate changed,,,,,,,,overnight.
The 7-day forecast doesn't have any happy news to report either. Winter is getting to be REALLY old about now. On the bright side, in only 3 or 4 short
feb 01 2018.jpg
months from now it'll warm up to reasonable temps,,,,,,I hope.

Personally, I glad we have climate change.
Just wish we got more Spring and Fall vs. Summer and Winter.

It looks like Global Warming has taken root, there,

Kind of the way it seems. We go from winter to summer, with very little "spring" and then fall comes around for about 2 days and POOF, winter. Got to be honest, the past 3 or 4 summers have pretty much sucked. Rain, rain, rain, more rain, cold and even more rain.............Last summer it never even hit 90 degrees a single time and EVERY (and I do mean every) show and/or cruise was rained out, exactly the same as in 2016. Maybe this year is the one! Hope, hope, hope.

I can tell the season is getting further along. We seem to be in the snow phase now. There wasn't a whole lot on the ground a week ago. Last Tuesday we got 5", then Wednesday night another couple inches, yesterday it snowed all freaking day and evening for another 6" of that white stuff. Snow in the forecast for this coming Tuesday and then again Thursday and Friday, sigh. I guess the winter sports enthusiasts will be happy and maybe the snowmobile trails and cross country ski trails will open now. I'm not what you'd call a winter sports type of person, not even close, LOL.

Up until a week ago, we had gotten maybe 12" in total,,,,,,,,,,,maybe. Then a couple weeks ago when it was in the upper 30's and low 40's, half of that melted and there's nothing wrong with that! The less that comes down over the winter just means there's that much less to melt when it finally does warm up. Also, it warms up a lot quicker in spring when there's no snow pack.

We're in the middle of everyone's favorite thing,,,,,,,,an ice storm. Had to start the Dakota and let it run with the defrosters on full for 20 minutes before I could even think about scraping the windows before leaving work this afternoon. There's a mist coming down right now and it freezes on contact, had like rain/sleet this afternoon and the air temp is only 25 so it's so much fun, lol. Possible up to 1/2" ice accumulation before it's done tomorrow afternoon. The ONE and ONLY condition where I won't complain about the salt being spread.
