What type of task is this? I'll likely farm this project out, expensive?

I’m not an expert on this matter – but if you are planning on replacing the vinyl roof – then this is something you can do yourself (having help(ers) is very handy), if wanted. I've not replaced a vinyl roof (or repair) personally – but have been in same room where it has been done, a few times (which does not make me an expert).

To convert it to a non-vinyl roof vehicle does have a few drawbacks:
One – Chrysler did not apply paint to cars that came from factory with vinyl roofs. If you were to remove the roof – you will find a lack of paint in that area.
Two – The quarter window plugs, on that style of quarter windows, was designed to have a vinyl top – or a person will need to apply sealant along the gap of the plug(s).
Three – one will need to remove he vinyl top surround trim as well as the trim clip studs - which will require some body work to have done.
If a person is willing to get all of that body work done, as well as sealing the quarter window plugs and any rust repair (if applicable) then go for it.

Note: The quarter window plugs do look a bit out of place without the vinyl top covering them.

If you are planning on replacing the vinyl top, by itself, also plan on (but hopefully not find any) some minor rust repair(s).

My Volare had a half vinyl roof like the picture but had full quarter glass, no plugs. The roof was painted completely as we're the the trim nails.

I am trying to get it finished before the Hot Rod Power tour in June, but probably it's first big event will be at the Garlits show in November.

Visit the thread from time to time I usually only get a few days to work on it every two to three weeks
