I'm bringing my '76 volare custom back to life and am giving up on the electric fan setup I had for it. I have the old fan shroud but I don't have the clutch or fan. Anyone know the fan diameter? Any recommendations on using an alternative size, any part numbers? I can pic up the clutch fairly easily but even that any advice would be appreciated. the engine runs a lot of horses and I struggle to keep it cool. It's a 318, standard water pump, standard radiator. I had a 4 core aluminum one in it but it had a few leaks so I pulled it, am going to braise it and heal the cracks and mayne put it back in if the standard radiator doesn't cool it well enough. either way I want to go back to standard clutch fan.

The fan is 18" diameter. You should try to find a 7 blade version. Some were only 5 blade. The clutch can be had from any local parts store, or Summit, etc. Get the one that has a thermostatic spring on the front of it.

If you are having trouble keeping it cool below 30mph;
you might try a hi-flo pump and hi-flo stat.But mostly, this is a lack of heat-shedding, ie ;the fan/fan-drive/shroud and rad.
I have a 367cuber,with over 400hp and no cooling problems with the factory 1973-318 AC rad. I run her at 205*F. I run a T-clutch from an early 2000s Ford half-ton. It was new in about 2002.(tuff bugger). And a 7-blade,all-steel,hi-attack,fan.
otherwise
also, just make sure the ignition-timing is adequate; say 12 to 18 degrees
also, the carb really likes fresh cold air, not that 220plus underhood stuff.
also, if a hi-stall, she will like an auxiliary trans-oil cooler.
