Two silly comments about that car, the owner is DEAD, and the car ran very well when it was raced with its stout sprayed small block.

It looks not bad at all. I would definitely look at it if I was closer. Roll bar would have to be redone to pass tech at my track. Looks like alot of good pieces there to start with.

Unless you are buying some high dollar restoration or "barn find" there is a level of hack to everything. Someone calls the guy that took a big block 383 and swapped in a hemi a hack. Money and looks doesn't mean it isn't hacked, take the car for what it is the people selling it obviously couldn't answer spit about the car, many details I suspect the owner took with him. If it was local and I could buy it I would, parts and pieces are expensive, buy it use parts, sell parts, bracket race (and love it for what it is as the owner obviously did) I suspect the car will sell for way less than the value of the parts or what it would take to build.

Sort of sorry I posted this. I have cut back on my postings and visits on this site because of a seeming lack of interest in them, periodic negativity, and particularly for the religious rantings of a few months ago. I visit and post on this site to relax and feel good. I'm sure we all get enough stress, bias, and negativity from other aspects of our lives.
I feel bad for the heirs of this race car trying to sell it, in that I seemed to have inadvertently provided an opportunity for their car to be trashed. Not my intention at all. I'm just trying to find and post interesting information about F's (and M's and J's) that we all can enjoy. Although I'm not into the racing aspect of the hobby, I thought this was an interesting car that some would be interested in and I thought it looked like it was once a nice machine. How hard is it to resist the temptation to post negatively? It's disturbing to me that this site seems to be becoming more negative and less friendly - the exact reason that I left another similar site, that had become outright hostile, and will never return. Joey, I hope you are paying attention, although I'm not sure what you could do about it. o_O

A few months ago I posted Judy Lilly's supper sock car and it got the same reaction.
The fact is old race cars , even very nice ones don't bring big money. You have got to look at them with a critical eye because a lot of what you see has to be updated.....and if it was done half-assed it needs to to be redone altogether. On a car like this just tires that have been sitting can cost $1,000.00 , non running as is, 2 grand on the high side. If it sells that helps the family great. But you have no idea of condition.
There is no intent of malice in my post but I've been around the block a few times and just trying to be realistic.

Everyone has opinions, why not voice them. Its all good.

I know the car a bit, seen it race, it was a 340 and I think a W2 headed motor, I cant get a good look with those pictures. It is older, slapper bars and pinion snubber but still hooked and I think it ran mid to high 6-s in the 1/8 and that why it had the short iirc 26 inch tire.

It might go pretty reasonable if they cant start it, a shame really as its just a big auction for the family and they do not seem to care about much, just the money.

I will be going to the auction and will take some pictures. Im not going for that car but there a couple F-s (that have been sitting outside of course) that ive an interest in one of them

I think if you look further, the auction house has a vid and that cars mentioned. I will look for the link but not sure my old PC will let me post it here.

Its sorta a odd auction because its setup I think as no previews, just show up going off the limited pics and info.

This is a discussion forum -- You are not going to get just positive opinions. People discuss and express their options, both positive and negative. I don't really see anything in this thread that is out of line or over the top.

Can't let other people rule or run your life used to get upset over stuff in the end that don't mean squat, you've actually helped these people even with the comments as exposure typically brings interest. If people really think a bit about the cost of stuff they could realize this could be bought for pennies on the dollar. Trust me I bought a cheap shell and know I got a bunch in it even using budget parts and stuff from my inventory.

Judy Lilly!! Thanks for that oldiron! The car reminded me of your post. But I couldn't remember her name.
I think Wayne Canini's show had an auction of another well known guy with a similar story and junk. They had a crew in a few days before the sale with tow trucks and wrenches getting tires blown up, parts hung and the junk that would run, to run and maybe move. Id be shocked if the auction or family didn't make that investment. Some don't. The family did exceedingly well on it. The market was quite umm... charitable
But it would be fun and educational to go even though lunch is probably all I could buy. It's 21hrs straight through for me, same as driving to W Palm Beach.

I`ve read this twice,, Still haven`t seen any silly posts. This is a site about cars,,which I belive is why we are all here,, the good , the bad and the ugly,, Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder! We all have opinions, Which I assume this site allows us to express,, Nothing stated this owner had past on, until, someone got their panties in a bunch.... May this fine Mopar Lover rest in Peace

The internet has gone into the crapper the last few years. When people start to scrutinize even some of the most subtle of words and terms why bother? But it does give some insight to why some of the most informed I know do not post on forums. Shakes head, walks away.
