She's a 78 or 79 Coupe has a good Grill Hood School trunk deck spoiler complete interior that is in almost perfect condition have all the clothes out for the bumpers and another set of bumpers also

My goal is to have it up and running by the end of the summer july 30th my b-day I have a 5th avenue that's the donor car for the drive train. 318 roller cam engine I'D like to put 4barrel on that engine and keep the roller setup.

I see a cam change in the future .
You could always get the factory cam reground. I think it runs about $150. Don't know about reusing the springs though.

Well I 've chosen a cam for my engine it's a comp cam 20-612-9. I think it will work for me and my engine combination.

what is the best welder to use on the frame welds I have a set of frame rail repair parts and they have too be welded on. will take a few pic soon.

MIG , wire feed.
That answer depends if you're doing overhead welding or not. If you go Mig then you want one with shielding gas. If you're not experienced with this then you really do need to hire a pro. Frame rails aren't something you want to cut your teeth on.

Totally agree, in fact my recommendation would be that you do a fair bit of "trial welds" on some scrap metal to get a good feel for the current and wire speed settings that give you a good penetration and consistent weld.
Whe I picked up my Lincoln Electric MIG welder I literally 'went to town' on some stuff I had laying around, figured out how to lay down a clean bead followed by cutting through some of them to see the inside of the weld. Sure, very far from a scientific study, but matching this up to some on-line stuff allowed me to get a better feel for what controls on my welder did and the best setup for the job at hand.
Also, regarding gas welding. That will really give you a nice spatter free weld, no slag. Always be aware of the frame rail thickness...grrh...when I installed my frame rail ties I found a few thin spots and needed to play with my welder settings to build up the weld.

Nice looking car. Good luck with it. I've used a flux wire welder on mine. Seems to work just fine with mine.

thanks guys I've put in for a lincoln welder non gas from work. i got a googd deal on it. so that where I m at now.

Just like a mig but no gas. the wire has a flux coating on it instead

Yes I am aware of the process, I've just never used one. I'd be interested to see welds completed with this wire.
