I have a '89 Plymouth Gran Fury AHB. the plug for the windshield washer pump does not have any power coming out of it. I checked the fuse for the wipers and it is good. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If the fuses are OK but there's no power to the pump with the washers switched on, it's probably the switch. You need to check for power out of the switch first. If there is, it's a wiring problem. If not, it almost has to be the switch itself.

My ’86 Fifth Ave has a bad washer switch in it.
I have a new part – but just haven’t been excited about replacing it, yet.

I attached (below) a copy of the wiring diagram from my ’86 FSM (Factory Service Manual) – which should be same for your ’89 (for this aspect, anyway).

If I recall correctly, there are two wires going to pump. One wire is ground. Make sure that wire is attached to ground and not broken. Also, remove the ground screw and take a wire brush to the wire and screw, before reattaching it.

With a 12-volt test light, you can push into the non-ground wire connector, and get a helper to press on the washer to see if test light lights up (with key on). If it lights up, and if ground is good, then you have a bad washer motor.

If the wipers work – then the fuse is OK.

Not to steer you wrong but,,,,,,,,,at work when the complaint is "washer inop", at least 90% of the time, it's the pump itself that has failed.

A quick and dirty way of checking the pump is to just run a pair of jumper wires (or use a Power Probe) and attach them to the pump motor terminals and see if it runs,,,,,,,,or doesn't.
