I just bought a 79 Diplomat. She's a peach but what is she an F body or a M body? The tranny's bad but I have one. Not bad a 75,000 mile car for 1300.00. I haven't seen it in person but from the pictures it looks cherry.

Really nice find! Very nice body style (M by the way) and color combo. For the price, you couldn't go wrong. Good luck and keep the pics coming!

Thanks. I thought it was n M but the year messed with me. Oh well 3 M's in the stable now.
My niece borrowed my Aspen about 6 months ago due to the shop wanting 1000.00 to change the inner and out tie rod assembly's. I bought everything for 120.00 f/ Rock Auto (Moog) and the tool for 32.00 f/Harbor Freight. The service writer at VW told me 3 - 4 hours labor. I didn't want to hurt his feelings but I watched a guy do a side in 9 min 44 sec on You Tube. So I did that for her(in an hour) and told her to get it aligned. When I asked for my Aspen back my little sister told me NO and my girlfriend agreed with her. So I am justified in buying this to replace my Aspen. Ha Merry Christmas to me.
Oh the guy said he is getting rid of all his F body stuff. I probably won't go up to get the car until early March but I will report back on what he has. I have to pick up a 78 Volare I bought next days off that I bought for parts 2 months ago.

Great find ! The color / interior is a good match and it all looks original.
I had lots of cut-out issues with my 79 LeBaron until I ripped the whole SCC system out and replaced it with a conventional ICU and a complete new ignition system from Summit. Now it runs fine :) Kept the air cleaner and the (disconnected) SCC so at first glance it looks original.

This will be my 4th Lean burn delete so no problems. I think I have any good carb. What I was wondering is if it has the cats on the Y pipe? The Canadian Y pipes aren't available any more. I'm going to have to look at the 79 Diplomat and 85 Fifth and decide which one I'm going to keep for me. The 85 is lean burn deleted, bigger exhaust, new headliner, new shocks and the front end completely rebuilt. I was going to put a windshield in it, get it aligned and tag it this days off but I might wait.

A nice looking car!

It is an M-body, but there are tons of parts that interchange with the F-body (except for some exterior sheet metal, lamps, trim and parts of dash.
About 85-90% of rest of car is same as 2-door F-body.
