Hey guys:
Each time I obtain a 2280/BBD kit, there are 3 base gaskets- 1 thin 2-hole type, 1 thin open type and one thick open type.
Which came factory original on a 318?

As you know, the distance of the carb above the intake ends up affecting the choke adjustment, and the trans rod geometry to a lesser extent . Thanks.

For me I have always used the thick one as that was usually what came off. What was previously on there?

I googled a 2bl kit 4049320 for 1977 318 and the pic shows a thick gasket. Mopar kits are more specific. Aftermarket kits fit multiple applications.

Original would have been a thick gasket. It's main purpose is to insulate the carb base from heat transfer, which would then transfer heat to the fuel bowl.
I've never decided what the thin gaskets are used on, that come in the kits.

Thanks everyone. I actually found a parts list for '84 Dodge trucks posted online and it indeed shows a thick insulator. I have several on hand, so I am good there.
