Rich, do you still need a cap? I believe I have the plastic type and metal one. They are in boxes above my car right now. And I can't move the car due to the snow piled up in front of the door.

What snow? lol Yes, I am still looking for one. If you, or anyone else, has one or runs across one they are willing to part with for a fee, let me know.
All the NOS ones are Mopar replacement caps (chrome). NOS doesn't always mean same as what came with the car out of the factory. There's assembly line pieces and then there's the parts you buy at the dealer's parts counter. No different to this day. They fit and function the same, but don't necessarily look the same. A lot of them are "consolidated" parts. One p/n replaces many.

You might have to look for a while to find an original one. I know I did, and finally bought one with the chrome trim on it, but remember, that doesn't matter because it is easily removable. So if you find one of them, you should snap it up anyway. Good luck!

Thanks to 7T8 Custom spotting an NOS PAINTED cap on Ebay, I now have one on the way. :) The price was VERY reasonable.

It should be here on Monday from what I can gather. Kind of curious about it! The trick is going to be painting it and getting it to match, and mixing up a tiny batch of paint also. Still can't believe the price ($9), shipping included. It's a deal of the century.
If 7T8 hadn't alerted me to it, I most likely would have never seen it.

After thinking about it. I don`t think they came painted or primed as replacement caps. 4002305 is suppose to be chrome. I think it may be a take off cap that was put in the chrome cap box for whatever reason. Even so it was a good deal.

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Looking closer at the pictures and "mousing over to zoom", it appears to be a used cap that's painted dark brown metallic (possibly). No indication of any chrome on the backside views. NOS or used, as long as it's an original painted cap, I'm happy, especially for $9, even though it says new in the ad.

Cap showed up today and it does appear to be used. The "handle" is die cast and painted metallic dark brown, the cap itself is red primer. I scraped some off and it's gold iridium plating underneath, not chrome. Reason I think it's used is the rubber seal has a witness mark from the filler tube and, it's solidified. No biggie. If it was $50 or something, it'd be a different story.
It looks like I can use the "guts" from my old, aftermarket chrome cap. The rubber seal is fine on that one. Haven't tried to be sure yet. One way or another, it'll be taken care of.
One thing I noticed right away, the cap weighs 3 times more than the chrome one and the handle is much easier to hold onto.

I'm probably going to a fuel cell in my Volare because of the e85 but I think it would be nice to keep the stock fuel filler operating.

In my cars former semi pro-street life of the early '90's, it had a fuel cell in the trunk. JMO but, huge pain in the you know what at the gas station plus, in my case, no fuel gauge. Other PITA's of the time, the fenderwell headers, no heater other than the searing heat coming through the footwell from the fenderwell headers................Never again!

This is what I’m dealing with over here. Rattle can one from my parts car, good enough for now.

At one time not that long ago nice used painted caps were easy to come by. Not so anymore.

I'm sure I passed up many of them back in the '80's when F-bodies were everywhere in the yards but, who knew? Well, caps, spoilers, grille's, trim, interior parts...............Body parts, not so much. Most of the one's in yards were rotted to the door handles or smashed beyond repair, or a combination of both by the time 1990 rolled around.:( By the late '90's, finding an F-body in a scrap yard around here was about as common as finding an unbroken '78-'79 Aspen grille for sale today..

Lol, I like this analogy! I think it also confirms Slantman's prediction in this other post:
Are FMJ cars really selling for these inflated prices?
Just caught-up on this discussion...found some comments quite interesting IE..I'm never going to sell it anyhow"...Want to bet!!!???AT 78 years old I am just now thinking "what if I kept that 55 T bird, that 68 Dart 340, that A100 crew cab I built etc...and yes I own the "maybe over priced 77 wagon mentioned.." but time and something called the MARKET will prove all these discussing right or wrong. When I got back into the "fun" car scene I was looking for,GASP !!! a Pinto wagon...had 5 of them... !) 100 bucks, drove them to death and flipped them for 150... Guess what, the prices were out of site!!! Once again I , as a retired appraiser, will tell everyone that THE MARKET will tell us what our cars are worth, NEVER SAY NEVER... Fun discussion!!
