Thanks 79blueghost. I'm not sure which post you are referring to, but all road trips are all fun. I would bet that your road trip yesterday will be remembered for a long time, particularly by your grandson. I know I still remember trips with my Dad and friends looking for parts long, long ago back when junkyards were still plentiful. Amazingly, I also still remember some very specific cars in those yards which undoubtedly were crushed many decades ago. The earliest one I still have a hazy memory of was a '49 - '51 red Mercury coupe sitting in a line of other early '50's cars in a small yard near our home. It was in about 1960, because we moved from that home in 1961. I was about 4 years old. Another one I remember later from about 1965 was a huge '59 Oldsmobile convertible, I think it was yellow or white, and it was completely rusted apart and sitting in the junkyard with the top either down, or entirely gone. It seemed ancient at the time, but was actually only about 6 years old. Then there are the memories of just driving with my Dad in his cars. He had a '61 Studebaker Lark that he would let me steer when we got within a mile of our house, which was in a very rural area. I was probably about 8 or so. What a thrill then! I'm really glad you had such a good time with your son and grandson! Great times!
