as far as i know the factory never glued down a trunk mat in 70`s Chrysler products

I have seen a few Chryslers that used glue, not on the trunk mat, but on the felt looking carpet used over the rear wheel wells. I suspect glue takes “too much time” to use on the assembly line, maybe.

Yes, the wheel well carpet and inner 1/4 panel carpet is glued on. The floor mat or carpet is a gravity fit. They aren't glued in so they can be removed to clean under them or, let it dry out if the trunk gets water in it. That's my theory anyways.

Thanks I haven't either. A seller says the mat is glued down just figured I would ask.
If the trunk mat has been glued down, there's three likely scenarios. 1. You're going to accumulate water under the mat faster than you can blink. 2. You'll loose access to the spare tire. 3. The seller is trying to hide something - most likely rot and decay.
