Hey guys,

I had the engine in the car and there was a few things I wasn’t happy with. Oil pick up to oil pan clearance was an issue. Back out everything came. It’s right or it’s not.

Why?

How did you set it up? I think my current 360 motor had about 1/4" clearance between bottom of oil pan and pickup...
I even asked myself that M Body, did some cleaning and painting. Check oil pick up out, tapped the pan bolt holes. I’d like to try the Magnum 1 piece pan gasket.

...I’d like to try the Magnum 1 piece pan gasket.

I just gone done looking at the option, the problem is that gasket, since it is meant for the Magnum pans, is missing a couple of "bumps" in the front rubber gasket section, subsequently when mated up to the non-Magnum pans you end up having a gap in that spot.

Some guys have managed to get away with a good dose of RTV, but as I measured and pondered the idea I chickened out...heck, no way do I want an oil leak there once the darn thing is in the car!!!

In fact I had picked up a SCE gasket just like that a long time ago and completely forgot about it, still have it here in the box and completely unusable because of this very same issue.

Thanks guys! Waiting on Oil pan gasket and a few small things. I’m actually at home this week and leave Monday afternoon back to work. Of all the amount of times I’ve wanted to be home for whatever reason because I’ve been at this out of town job for almost 4 years, things planned out today. Delivery of new black door panels.

Not Legendary. But I hope that they are listening. I called them and they forwarded me to SMS interiors. Original interior colour is black in my ‘79 RT. Original door panels came with the car but had speaker holes cut out. Butchered. Plus the car was outside for years, you know how it goes. Sent the panels to SMS Interiors. Took quite a while. Seen about a month ago something about Legendary saying they can help with door panels now. I wish I could have 10-15 pairs of these, and even all in black. I’d bet they’d sell between here and Facebook. Another thing is Thremoforming. New dash pads here we come!!

My 76 runner will have to have front door panels! So will SMS keep some F body door panels in stock or made to order deal?

ABC is suppose to have the dash pads done in the next month or so. I would love to see legendary start making the door panels for our cars. The did some for my 73 charger and they were beautiful. I imagine those SMS panels were big dollars. Pretty sure SMS panels are made to order.

Legendary seems to not want to acknowledge that Aspen and Volare were ever built so, door panels? I've got my doubts but then again, I had an "experience" with them a few years back regarding f-body, that left me with a bad attitude towards that company and I'll admit to being biased.

Aspen500's experience with Legendary was better than mine......@$$#×[=$.
All I can say is, when I asked the person on the phone if they had anything for a '79 Aspen, he laughed and said in a snobby, condescending manner "no, we don't have anything for THOSE cars". This was 15-20 years ago. All I did was call to ask, wasn't expecting they would have seat covers but if you don't ask...…………. They guy was complete jerk. I've heard of others that had the same type of experience. Turned me off to the company big time. I normally don't hold a grudge more than a couple minutes but in this case, the grudge still goes on. Only other grudge I hold onto is Brad's NOS for a different reason which I won't go into. Of course, your experience with those 2 companies may vary.:)

However, it looks like SMS did a darn nice job on your door panels. The heat seams, or whatever you call them, aren't simple to do I wouldn't think.

What I expect is that they will need to branch out to different makes and models to continue to make sales. There are only so many Cuda and Challengers out there to restore so sooner or later business will taper off if it already hasn`t.
