Does sound kind of fishy. Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought SC's were automatic only(?) or was that the Kit Car's?

Kit Cars and Super Coupes were 360/4v only, so no 4 speeds, Chrysler didn't have an emissions cert for 360 4spd cars by then

Guy posts an eBay listing asking for $12k and doesn't even have a single picture of the entire car. Only a dozen or so close ups. No freaking way...

I'd like to see the fender tag on the 4-speed car.

Would be cool as hell if it were real for some reason.

I asked the guy if the vin was in the trans and he said its blank.

Ive one tag off a SC and on tag on a SC, neither look like the lower stamped edge or has the odd spacing.?

I wonder if anyone really knows of this car. Prior owner is confused as well.

This is from the prior owner.

Yes I can answer that.
The car did in fact have a clutch pedal And here’s the story which will probably confuse you more. The previous owner - 2nd ownwer - had the car for +20 years. He mentioned that his mechanic decided to put a manual transmission on the car when he was “restoring” it - at the time of the respray. But he told him to stop because he wanted to keep the car original.

And he even added this on a later message.

I found the number of the previous owner, he’s a family doctor in Long Beach area, I say let’s give him a call!

Just run the vin through google and all I found comes up, its always been listed as a auto car.

There was a short cool vid made by the prior owner and in a flash between things you can see its got a manual brake pedal. The sound is dubed? in it sounds like a mean stick car.

The few things that hit me as odd is seller told me he had a no sale because they found the 4 speed tunnel under the console and the cars changed a few hands. Wouldnt a Super Coupe guy that just found a legit 4 speed shit a brick and snag the only real SC to be found vs back out of the deal?
Wouldnt the seller do alot more to try to sell the car? Post all the engine and body numbers, hes a new carpet, why not pull the seats and photo a legit floor pan?

On some of the pics in the listing there is blue paint showing.

Anyway, I wish it was close because id surly go look at it because ya can never say never.

In this vid you can easily see the rear quarters do not have the lower holes drilled for the spoiler end caps on both sides. Crazy

In the original ad he shows pics of the parts he'll be using and mentions that he has started a 4sp conversion...

It makes sense that it's the same car, albeit w a 4sp now. Makes 0 sense why he would try to pass it off as original.

I wish the seller was easier to deal with on trying to prove it is real. Id love to have a real 4 speed SC. Who wouldnt?

Here is an example of two different f body A57 car tags, look at the lower portion of the 7. One is straight, one has a lil hook inward. The A is different, the spacing is different, but both real.

Hell, who knows, it could be real, just alot of odd circumstances. Pretty interesting though.

We should ask DB Cooper.

I think possibly the fender tag font could be different depending on what plant the car was built at. It's a theory anyways.

I thought that was widely known, it would make no sense to swap stamp sets at the same plant unless it was a perm. change. Most f people dont even seem to think or care where there car was produced, I find that odd myself. Even fewer seem to care about the history of them.

Chrysler did not have a Federal, California or Canadian Emissions certificate for a 360/4v with a 4spd. Since those cars were only available in the US and Canada, the likely that they would build one when the EPA was already trying to end performance models.

That dude is full of shit. California emissions v8 cars were lean burn, all E58 were lean burn in 78, 79, and 80. All E58s were built with high gloss black valve covers with a "premium engine" decal. The chrome valve covers were only factory on EH1 Little Red Express engines (a green 78 Magnum GT was shown at the 78 Detroit Autoshow with an EH1 in it)

Thanks for saying what I wanted to say. Talking to the seller was like talking to someone who just told you definitively that the earth is FLAT. Ummmm, thank you for your time, click. As well as his opinion that it having the org. engine and the added non vin stamped trans made it a matching #s car.

He said the V covers were factory because they had all the oem hardware, I siad lil red, he said, nope I was wrong.

For those that keep track of SC vins, its not like its one of the first ones, no chance of a "special" car.

A 76 f with say a E57 or e58 4 speed that squeaked through would be more believable then a 78.

You should call him, then be ready to ask yourself why you ever did when done.

But really all one needs to do is what I did, track the prior owners and call them and hear it from them that the 4 speed idea was conceived in the mid 80s.

Run the vin on google and see the ebay listing, see the guys current for sale listings and ask about it, his name is Reg, PM me if anyone wants his #. Then he can hook you up with the prior owner before him of 20 plus years.

No one recalls it ever having a 4 speed, but the peds were installed in the 80-s when they were gonna do it then didnt.

I wont say the car is fake, but without docs, the org. trans stamped right, most would gather its a 99.9% chance its not legit.

Then why does the one listed show blue paint on the leaf spring in one pic, a hint of blue on the upper door piller with the trim removed, blue paint in the trunk where the paints been scuffed.

In the vid, the rear quarters have no holes drilled for the lower spoiler caps on each side.

The whole car just dont add up. Whats missing in the trunk pic?

People whom are honest, sincere and have nothing to hide do not act this way. That and the number of details which leave you with an overall 9-10 on the BS meter. If he would just try to market the car for what it is, there are people who would want it and feel more comfortable dealing with him.
