1980 Mirada Cmx

I bought it from original owner 2.5 years ago...he ordered it at the beginning of his senior year in high school (lucky man). The car was built January 8, 1980.

General Information

The car was in excellent condition on purchase as seen in the first photo where I picked it up in Greenville, OH. The next painted photos are at home in TN & then early stages at the body shop where I am still working on it, painting it Matrix 2-stage SC9 Nightwatch Blue with painted CMX pin stripes under the clear coat...should be out by spring with the following changes:

'71 340 block 0.30 over balanced/blueprinted
J Heads 2.02/1.88 w/ Harland Sharp Roller Rockers
Comp Cams XE284H
Edelbrock Performer Intake
650 cfm Thunder Series AVS Carb
Hedman Headers
727 Trans with Cheetah valve body and shifter
Hughes Performance 2500 stall convertor
8.25 rear w/ 3.55 sure grip
& hopefully rear discs by spring

It looked pretty damn good to me to start with.
There must have been some dings that I cant see in the pic.
Cant wait to see the finished results.

It was pretty straight, but through the years the previous owner had spotted in sections of the car with single stage & 2 stage paint, so that plus every panel didn't exactly color match, & the qtr panel extensions were shot. I bought junky filler panels from that place in AL, but they do require cutting & rebuilding to look right. To me its such a pretty car, I didn't want the mismatch to be a distraction. I intend for it to remain totally stock appearing as the photos show, just 100% matching.

Night Watch is a great color. I guess the passenger side must have been beat to death when you purchased the car, causing you to put all of this work into it, because the driver's side looks great!

Thanks! It had an unusual amount of door dings under the passenger side door handle and then mystery dings below....nothing that a little filler and block sanding can't cure. I'm a little OCD about sharp lines and gaps, so its going to be long winter of inline and block sanding, but worth it once the paint gets sprayed.
