#4126630 This is in the part book for the 1980 LS...check for yourself!!

I'm assuming Chrysler was going to continue building the 300 in 1980 but named it the LS.

Now why they would make this part and never use it escapes me. I ordered a bunch of these in 1980. They are 2 3/8 inches across and flat in contour. Tape on the back side for adhesion to the wheel cap.

In a pinch I believe these would fit in a 1979 300 grille and no it isn't the same but closer than any other replacement if an NOS one is not available.

Has anyone ever seen a car with these on them or in a sales brochure? Were they ever actually put on a car at the factory? As far as I know this is the only thing in the 1980 part book that has a 300 related designation on it.

35.00 each plus shipping. I have 34 of them.

I remember seeing a picture of a red and a white 80 300 that looked like a marketing picture The red car had a white interior and T-tops and the white car was red inside, neither had vinyl roofs, both had 5 on 5 wheels, and I remember the picture said "1980 Chrysler 300". The model was listed in some factory literature, mostly parts listings, but there was at least one sales document that listed the 300 as being available with the 360-4, i remember a heated discussion on another forum that ended with an image of the New model announcement and the picture.

Marty, do you still have the LS emblems that go on the sides? If so, I'm ready to order new ones.

YES! The very first few hundred (don't quote me on the exact number) were both badged and titled as Chrysler 300s. They are particularly rare.

FYI my part book is dated April 1981 and the 300 decal 4126630 is on 2 pages, both are for 2 different wheel covers, not wheels.

there is nothing in the exterior moldings section specifically for the 300

There are various tape stripes listed for the S-S also:

4205488-9 R/L fender/door QTR red/white/blue I have 4205488
4205490-1 R/L fender/door QTR white/clear/blue
T051TRD Trunk red/white/blue
T051TWA Trunk white/clear/blue

this seems strange: 2 different type of stripes available, I suppose depending on the paint color used.

the 4022940-1 R/L qtr medallions (red/white/blue) (I have 21 pairs of NOS) shows in the part book: use after 3-10-80

so maybe there was an earlier medallion used or it's that it was introduced for the 1st time then.

4022962 (red/white/blue) trunk medallion shows it as an S-S model .... have lots of these NOS

4019848 is the steering wheel ornament for the S-S model AND the door panel.

This is the same one used on the 1979 300 steering wheel so it does have the "300" lettering on it..I have these NOS also.

So I'm positive from the part book that the only 300 specific parts used on early 1980 LS cars was on the 2 types of wheel covers,

the steering wheel and the tape stripes. Earlier editions of the part books may show other parts such as a grille medallion.

S-S= LS 300

S-H and S-P are other price classifications listed that year

located on the tag under the hood, last line of code,3rd grouping of 4 digits

SS22 would be how the 300 would read
(S=Cordoba S=Special 22=2 Door Pillar Hardtop

S=Special
H=High
P=Premium

More info on other part book editions....

OK I dragged my 1980 part book dated September 1979 and here what is has:

3444169 fender "Three" nameplate
3444170 fender "300" nameplate
4022563 trunk Cordoba nameplate model S-S
4175170-1 R/L Roof transverse molding use on Padded Landau Roof model S-S

NOT shown are the Qtr panel and the trunk medallions !!!

Also no LS grille parts are there either. The exterior illustration looks like a drunk 3rd grader drew it.

Another edition this time February 1980:

The exterior illustration looks normal

The Three and Hundred are the same as above for the fender
The trunk medallion 4022950 says "Three Hundred" !!!!! Good luck finding one of these!!!

Again no mention of a LS grille in this book either

NOTE: 3444169 and 3444170 (the fender nameplates) were used on the 1971 Chrysler 300 fenders and were stick-on die cast block letter nameplates so they must have had a bunch in their inventory and used them on early build 1980 "LS" cars!!

So they were using 1979 and 1971 300 parts on the early 1980 LS cars rather than make new parts for this car.

I got mine, too! Thanks, Marty! I’m going to put my 5-Spokes on for Spring, while I get my 10-Spokes refinished. Dummy me, I used some Goof Off to try and clean up some stains on my wheels, and it attacked the clear-coat. I’m going to use the 300 decals on the 10-Spokes.

So it turns out these are a little too big to fit in the Wheel Caps of the 10-Spokes. JasperJacko: What do you intend to do with yours?
