This Imperial looks to be in really very nice condition, and if someone knows how to work with the troublesome FI systems, this could be a real bargain at only $5000. ;)

I wonder if it's as hard to find FI parts for it? Sensors and what not.

No idea. I don't know much about the Imperials other than they are beautiful - and distinctive. I understand that the EFI was a big problem with them, as seems to be the case with this one. But is sure is a beauty for 5K!

What these cars needed was shielded wiring harness. When you drive by anything with high voltage (like power lines), the signals would make the computer go batty. The times car was not in vicinity of high voltage power lines (or driving by an electrical storm) they would run great.

It would take a lot to add shielded wiring (or properly shield the existing wiring and make it look decent) – but if you did, you wouldn’t need to touch the fuel injection system (in most cases).

There is a person in the Oklahoma City area with the same color Imperial. He converted his FI from a ’89 Dodge pickup. The computer now hangs in front of the A/C condenser. He had to modify the air cleaner a bit, but old computer is still attached to air cleaner.

Modifying the EFI or even replacing it would not be overwhelming but keeping the dash working is concerning.
