Got some noise from the rear diff in my 77 Volare.
I'm thinking the outer axle bearings are going. Drained the oil but no filings that I could see. Can't seem to find bearings though. Anybody know the bearing number or do I have to pull the axles?
Thanks
Jeff

Are you sure it is not the universal joint that is making the noise?

Thanks Aspen. Im assuming the top listing is a seal and the bottom is the bearing judging by the price.
Darth, I've looked at u joints and they seem tight. Gear oil was drained and refilled with 75/90. No filings found. It may also be the tires as it has snow tires so I'm trying to isolate that.
I think the Timkin number us RWC35YR.
Of course can't confirm unless I pull the axles.

Those are both bearings. The top one is cheap crap that I'd stay away from, the bottom one is the good bearings. Priced about on par with most GOOD axle shaft bearings.
