This is clearly a very nice Aspen, reportedly with low mileage, original 318 and factory four speed. I personally don't care for the painted bumpers, and the interior is not "leather" as stated, yet otherwise it's a beautiful Aspen. BUT, the bidding is up to $11,100 with 16 bids and the reserve still hasn't been reached? I wish the seller well, but is there something here that I am missing about this car? I would think that this is about top dollar for this car as is. On the last pic on the add, the seller shows a price written on the windshield of $16,900 OBO.
    Humm. What do you think?

Huh. No sale with reserve not met after 19 bids and top bid of $11,700. I know prices are going up, but they aren't going up that fast IMO.

It looks really nice but it's also modified (steering wheel, shifter, ugly radio, scoop, painted bumpers, etc.) which doesn't necessarily mean it's worth more. All depends on the potential buyers and what they're looking for.

I've been around mopars for most of forty years and the thing I have noticed all along is nobody wants to sell anything but if they do its only for big money, but if there buying it's not worth xxit.
If that were an Abody he would have gotten the money plus, but I think he was offered good money for an Fbody.

That's part of the problem he's asking Duster/Dart 360 money. I hope he gets close to the $16K he's asking but if he wants to sell it he probably should be thinking $10-12K.

Id say his target market is the group who dont know or follow these cars.

Its pigged up with a decent paint job. Its a cool 4 speed fold down seat car.

It would be nice if he posted the data tag so if it was an R/T which one, does it have package parts added or missing some?

Its a nice driver if ya start looking close.

The grill has issues. (driver quality)
The pics of the rear with tail lights (driver quality) has been removed.
    Non working heater.
    No fan shroud.
Trunk dress up carpet missing and even the piece on the fold down section.
As pointed out. painted bumpers. Yea some like the looks but its a cheap out to the proper chrome.
Dash gauges show the normal sit outside discoloration.
    Std. silver painted rims.
Motor spray bombed, still some red on fan belt.
Zero pics of the 40 year old underside but from the engine pics, front end looks untouched.

Sellers feedback shows flipper. Hes smart with a camera. No closeups of critical areas.

IMO he should of sold the car at the 11-12k bid, it would take 3k in parts to make it semi decent local show but its really typical of what were seing in alot of mopars these days of who watch all the car fix, repair and flip tv shows.

Although kit cars are not my thing there are still nice org. kit cars sitting for 12-15k nice and untouched.

Really I feel for the guy who would pay 12k, he just might feel ill real quick after the 50 footer effect kicks in.

Alot dont add up on this car.

WHY the tan rear interior panels now dyed or probably painted on this car.

Now that you've pointed out all that stuff, I have to agree he's asking way too much. Suddenly the car doesn't look so good. You've got a good eye for the details. Still looks decent but the asking price is double or more what it should bring. Of course, IF I was interested in the car, I'd travel to inspect it in person first and would never buy a car sight unseen, especially from a flipper.
The listing has ended and I see another one, a '77 R/T from a dealer. Same thing, pics only of the exterior, no underside, no engine, no interior, makes me suspicious.

Yea, I dont think this pic here made the ebay listing.

Look at the weathered tail lights and bezels, look at the jacked rear stripe (last segment missing).

Look at the great fit and finish of the real spoiler. I could go on and on. (save pic and blow up)

Sure dont even look like a 10-12k car to me.

When I see an F at 14k or above, I need to see pics like this below or a well stored time capsule.

Good points XfbodyX. I missed that tell tale beige edge on the rear interior panel. What really gets me is the seller calling the interior "leather". It's not difficult to tell leather from vinyl. To me, this is deliberate bait / switch tactic. Especially if the seller is a dealer.

Another F that is irritating to me on EB right now is this one:
    1978 Dodge Aspen Wagon -- | eBay
Again, a dealer car shaded and misrepresented. "It's an A/C car!" (doesn't work). "It's got great PATINA!" (nasty surface rust). "The interior is in EXCELLENT condition!" (headliner sagging, dash cracked up, plain Jane seats torn, cover the carpet with paper floor mats so you can't see it). "It has a ROOF RACK!" "Throw a SURF BOARD on and make a SURF WAGON!" (Really? o_O). It looks like the only thing that has been done to it was to put a set of wheels and tires on it and "LOOK!!" This has been listed on EB for a few weeks now at BIN of $4500! Zero bids currently with reserve not met at $3000. I think originally somebody bid, but did not break the reserve and they quit. This would be a nice buy at $1000 or $1500 perhaps. $4500? :confused:Nope.

I saw that one also. As you said, $1,500 fine, even $2K (if it was a V-8 that is) but certainly not $4,500.

As with the other one, no photo's of the under side or engine compartment. As we all know with F-bodies, even if the exterior sheet metal looks OK with little or no rust, it could have sub frame rails and floors that look like swiss cheese or inner fender panels that give you a view of the front tires from under the hood.

This is a good example of if your buying it's junk and if your selling it's a gold mine something mopar fans are great at imo.

True JR, I had looked for that to post yesterday. That car is really one of the biggest disasters ive seen in a while. Outwardly it looks "ok" but the underside makes one wonder if they could even sell the car some places as hacked up as it is.

Im not sure what pics are up of it still but ive seen derby/movie cars in better shape and really makes me wonder who would even do that to a car, I think we all did better/smarter on out beaters when teens.

Look at the pics at the bottom of the listing, not the ebay selection up top.

I never saw the full size pics at the bottom of the listing before of the '77 "Roadrunner". Holy cow, what a cobbled up, bondo buggy, piece of crap. If it was priced accordingly it would be one thing but not for what they're asking. It's not even so much the crappy paint job, bondo and rust, it's the workmanship, or lack thereof, of the entire car. It appears to have been built by a person with absolutely no automotive experience or knowledge at all. As xfbodyx said, we all did better work on our high school junk with no budget, than this car had done.
