Well i got the car when i was 15. had no idea what a volare was then and thought i was getting a duster. Paid $250 for it and towed it home.

So being young and wanting to go fast the /6 had to go and in went a 1968 318.

So i must not have drilled the hole right or something cause i couldnt get an exhaust on it and couldnt afford to have one made so i ran open headers. Well this meant i couldnt drive it around town but i would get it out and do burnouts and race the little imports around the around on the back roads. I would go to swap meets and mopar events til i found some window louvers, a 3 piece rear spoiler and a fiberglass hood scoop. Then came time for a bigger power plant so i got myself a 360.

Well then i went to college and didnt even touch it for almost 4 years. I then got a good job at a chrysler dealer as a technician. I got back to looking at it and decided that it was time to try to fix the body.

And thats how it sat for awhile again as i got fustrated with it and started to play with jeeps. well about 2 monthes ago something hit me and and i decided it was time to get this thing finished. so i found myself a 360 thats bored 30 over and is setup for a roller cam and has roller lifters and edelbrock aluminum heads. Heres the car after pushing it out and blowing the dust off.

After these i took it down to a shortblock and wire brushed the block. Then i put in a windage tray.

Looking good. Keep at it and keep the pics and updates coming.
Always nice to see another one being saved instead of mashed.

i agree with you guys. body work does take some time but its well worth it cause they havent made these cars for at least 32 years. Sorry about no updates for awhile now had to do some work on my other toy.

so i got a few other spots filled in. Got the dash put back together. installed the front headlight housings onto the fenders. and started taping stuff up.

Then i put the car up on my hoist and started to swap the rear leaf springs for a set of super stocks that i bought awhile ago.

Heres the old spring removed. found the leaf was broken where it wraps around the front bushing so bad you can see in the wheel well where the axle would dog track and hit the body.

I like seeing people keep their first car and bring it back to life in the future. I still have my first car (72 Duster) and unless my garage burns down I don't ever see myself parting with it.

Well i had to cut a decent amount out of the area around the front of the leaf mounting bracket area to get the adaptors to bolt on and i had to cut the 3 lines coming from the fuel tank and gonna redo them. Found out that the shocks are to short so i called mopar direct connection tech line and they told me i need shocks that are 25" extended and 14" collapesed. I then started on the other side.
