my heater box caught fire and burnt out most of my dash.
so I am upgrading it with one from a 78 le baron.
problem is the wire colors dont all match up, so I need a good cross reference guide. thanks.

Think I’m going to go disconnect my battery while I’m recovering from surgery.
Tough break, glad it’s repairable and not off to the scrap yard.

yah, I kinda lucked out. the main harness from the fuse box is largely intact so I have good wire leads to work from. for the rewiring.

I’d start by finding a donor car so I could replace everything…

Wow that sucks! That must have been one stomach twisting feeling.
I think I have a 78 manual set I can scan some wiring diagrams from if that helps. I know I have 79 but not sure if there's differences.

as I mentioned, I did that, I pulled everything out of a 78 Le barron
like I said that is why I need a good cross reference guide for the wiring.
not all the wires are the same colors so I need to know what the colors are that go together.

I would not splice a harness in, put it in complete.

Are you using the Le Baron dash?

yes. dash, heater ducting, the mounting skeleton for the instrument clusters ,controls, wiring, antenna everything you dont see will come from a le baron

if I had the wire blocks it would be plug and play. as long as they matched up. but.. that is why I am asking for a cross over wire guide.

78 is different than a 79, The bulkhead connector is under the dash in a 78 and a 79 connects thru the firewall. Hope this helps. Your wagon is a 79? Does it have AC?

78 no AC, looking for the under dash harness wires color codes from fuse box to gages chrysler , controls and instruments to patch in with my dodge harness burnt harness from fuse box to burnt out dash. my steering harness is also intact
the existing harness has color leads th chrysler does not have, and the chrysler has color leads the dodge does not have. I need to know which ones of the miss matches go together.
must use different colors because they came from different plants?? .

If anything it's a difference by body type or options. The only difference between chrysler and dodge within the same body is what options its wired for. If it's all the same year.

I have 2 79 f body no AC under dash harnesses for sale in excellent condition. I would try to find a 78 service manual and all your wiring diagrams and colors would be there to take the guess work out of it.

next issue to tackle
the new heater box is from an A/C car and my original was not,Im hoping I can modify it because it has better ducting for the heater I know it will fit but not sure about the heater core and larger fan placement as compared to the non A/c heater box the A/C condensor is not needed, so I'm considering pullong it and placing the heater core in its place, if it lines up on the fire wall

OK, decided to strip down the S/E for the interior parts I need. because I can also use it for the duster. the duster is an A/C car too so it will use some of the part I got from the LaBaron. hopefully I'll have both my blue wagon and the duster back on the road this summer.

way gone update 003.JPG
