Hi. I have been having trouble finding a new axle to replace my 7.25 in my Cordoba. I'm trying to keep it on cheap side and all I can find in other FJMs are more 7.25s. Anyone ever use an 8.25 from a Jeep Cherokee? From what I can tell the width is only around a half inch off.

Find you a M-body direct bolt in. I find them in the Fifth's around here.

Noob question....did the M bodies use bigger rears than the Js across the board? I mean, did they all get 8.25" regardless of engine size?
I'm pretty sure the late B bodies are the same width also (front track width is the same). If you pick an axle out of a Magnum, Cordoba, Coronet, et al you'll get at least an 8.25. But you could luck-out and score a 9.25 if its an e58 or big block car.

Thats the problem. None of the Ms around where I live have 8.25s. There aren't very many left. I've checked junk yards everywhere, check demo cars when people are done with them. They all have 7.25s. The M bodies are getting to be really rare around here. All the local ones have been crushed. The only ones you see are a few Fifths every now and then. I've seen one Dippy. No Gran Fury's and no other M's. Most salvage yards say they have none and when they do they just have 7.25s

he'll need the whole axle as he doesnt have a 8 1/4 and those guts wont fit in a 7 1/4
